“Because we are all for freedom and the least possible restriction? If we can try to achieve such results without introducing such strict measures, we must do the same, ”S. Skvernelis told reporters gathered at the Seimas on Tuesday.

According to the Prime Minister, current recommended measures can control the coronavirus situation in the country.

“It just came to our attention then. Basically, the main thing that would force us to take the next steps would be to overload our health system and be a potential threat if we meet the capacities that are intended to treat patients with Covid-19,” he said S. Skvernelis.

According to the Chief of Staff, it is expected to manage the situation during the student holidays. According to S. Skvernelis, students will be offered not one, but two weeks of autumn vacation, during which, in the opinion of the Prime Minister, the population of the country should take a break from their social life.

During this break, according to S. Skvernelis, it will be recommended to avoid events, keep your distance, wear masks.

“Those two weeks would be a major boost to stabilize the situation,” Skvernelis said.

According to him, the number of cases doubles every two weeks and it takes 6 to 8 weeks to return to the previous situation.

“Time to take a break”

The relentless three-digit number of infected COVID-19 brings new limitations in preparation. S. Skvernel announced Monday that it is time to take a break from public life. He warned that if the measures now envisaged do not help, local quarantines will be introduced in individual municipalities.

“Time to take a break from public life.

The coronavirus continues to spread in Lithuania. Particularly threatening situation in several municipalities. The number of infected people in the Raseiniai district exceeds 850 per 100,000 inhabitants. In Kelmė – 314, in the district of Šiauliai – 200. The situation is tense in the city of Šiauliai, Joniškis, Švenčionys, Plungė, Radviliškis.

COVID-19 is already used in 57% of patients. the so-called “crib” beds. Once it reaches 70%, we will be forced to suspend certain scheduled services so that our doctors can direct resources to treat the new coronavirus.

Doctors and epidemiologists remain key people in our fight against COVID-19. We must protect them, create the best conditions for them and respect their work. For this reason, today we decided to pay supplements to the doctors of 5 hospitals who work directly with the virus and to allocate additional resources to strengthen the National Center for Public Health and motivate its staff.

We must all help our doctors, because their efforts alone will not defeat the insidious virus. Therefore, strict recommendations for virus management will be given to municipalities in the most dangerous situation in the near future. I urge everyone to follow these rules. On Wednesday, all the municipalities will be divided into red, yellow and green groups. Each group will receive very detailed and clear recommendations on how to combat the spread of the virus.

If these measures do not help, we will be forced to introduce local quarantines in individual municipalities.

I would like to emphasize once again that it is safe to vote in the Seimas elections. Electoral commissions are ready to work in the face of a pandemic. Therefore, I ask everyone to carry out their civic duty safely.

Students’ fall break begins next week. The children will not go to school. Then it will be time for adults to take a break from social life, thereby protecting themselves and others from the spread of the virus.

It’s time to remember the spring motto “Let’s stay home.” Choose not to participate in unnecessary events. Go only where security and compliance are guaranteed.

I believe that, as in the spring, the volunteers will come to the aid of the NVSC specialists again if necessary ”, announced S. Skvernelis on his Facebook account.
