“The documents were submitted by six candidates,” Justas Jaskonis, advisor to the Environment Minister, told BNS.

Applications were received from three candidates in the contest for the head of the Lithuanian zoo announced last month, but the contest was suspended at the end of July by order of Minister Kęstutis Mažeika.

After clarifying the terms of the contest, the ministry abolished the specific education requirement. In repeated competition, it was sufficient to have a higher university education (master’s degree) and at least three years of managerial experience.

In announcing the contest in mid-July, the ministry said it was looking for a person with a university degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, civil engineering, environmental engineering, veterinary medicine, or business administration and administration (master’s) and at least 3 years of managerial experience.

According to J. Jaskonis, the three candidates who submitted documents for the previous competition also submitted them this time.

The contest for the position of Director of the Zoo will take place on September 3.

“There will be interviews with the candidates who will physically enter the competition,” said an adviser to the environment minister.

Those wishing to occupy the post of director of the Lithuanian zoo located in Kaunas had to submit documents before August 24.

The salary of the future head of this institution will reach almost 2.3 thousand. before taxes.

The zoo hasn’t had a permanent manager since October last year, when Aurimas Didžiokas, who had been running it for six years, was fired from this position.

He lost the minister’s trust due to the delayed reconstruction of the zoo.
