On Saturday, November 7, one Facebook the user shared a post that received a lot of attention.
“By putting masks on children, we will kill their brains, the lack of oxygen will damage them irreversibly, thus implementing a plan to reduce humanity,” says the author of the post.
False information
This post has already been shared by 655 people, including nearly 100 Facebook users commented on the post. Most agreed with the author of the post: they believe that it is child abuse and some even urge parents to “rebel”.
Lies
However, the author and commenters on the post are unnecessarily outraged: Scientific facts refute claims that protective masks are harmful to children or adults.
By putting masks on children, we will kill their brains, the lack of oxygen will damage them irreversibly, and so is the plan to reduce humanity.

According to the website of the Ministry of Health, the use of medical masks is one of the measures to prevent respiratory infections, including the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in areas affected by the virus.
However, wearing the mask alone does not provide complete protection, so it should be used in conjunction with other preventive measures: hand hygiene, etiquette when coughing and sneezing, gloves, etc.
The false claim that masks are harmful to health is not new, but it is widespread on social media. Even at the beginning of the pandemic, attempts were made to explain that masks interfere with oxygen inhalation, as if a person had to breathe in greater amounts of CO2 and could become poisoned.
These are all unscientific claims.
“Properly worn masks and the materials they contain will not interfere with your breathing. Breathing problems are a sign that your body is not getting enough oxygen, which is hypoxia (lack of oxygen), ”says a BBC article that denies the harm of wearing masks. The article is based on the findings of experts.
The World Health Organization states that prolonged use of medical masks according to instructions does not cause CO2 poisoning or lack of oxygen.
“When you wear a medical mask, make sure it fits well and is tight enough to allow you to breathe freely. Never use a disposable mask several times, and when it gets wet, replace it with another one, ”states the official website of the World Health Organization. Here the important fact is emphasized: the mask must allow a person to breathe freely. If the protective equipment used does not allow unobstructed breathing, there is a high probability of a shortage of air, which can cause health problems.
However, experts say that no medical mask around the face is tight enough to interfere with air permeability. “A person will remove the mask before being in danger because it will be uncomfortable,” Bill Carroll, a chemistry professor at Indiana University, told health.com.
Most importantly, doctors wore protective masks even before the pandemic. It would be naive to believe that medical masks can cause health problems, since doctors sometimes have to wear these masks for a dozen hours a day.
Therefore, it is not dangerous for children from the age of six to wear masks and it certainly does not harm their brain.
