We remind you that on Friday, President G. Nausėda announced on Friday that he was rejecting the names of two candidates proposed by Prime Minister I. Šimonytė.
Kasparas Adomaitis, nominated by the Freedom Party, and Dalia Miniataitė, candidate for agriculture nominated by the Conservatives, did not pass the filter of the presidency.
Provide an updated list
On Friday, I. Šimonytė told Seimas reporters that he would have to present an updated list of ministerial candidates to the president.
“According to the Constitution, the president approves the list presented by the prime minister. The list is now officially available. And today we discussed a bit about whether changes can be made to that list and some changes have been agreed.
Still, I will have to provide a revised list that the president could already sign, because the president cannot remove names from the list, approve a non-exhaustive list, otherwise change that list. (…) I see this as a hard working conversation, just and the agreement that was reached, I hope it will be implemented, ”said I. Šimonytė.
The politician said that there is no one who cannot be criticized.
“I did not see the discussion of the candidates as it was here. The individual qualities of the candidates were not as widely discussed. The president has the right to comment, no doubt. But before, things were a little different. Comments can be said, I thank both candidates for their determination, I trusted the competence of both. “Now we will look for another candidate,” the prime minister-designate said.

He said he would present the names of ministerial candidates in the near future.
“I will name the names when I can,” I. Šimonytė told reporters on Friday.
“I do not have to agree with all the comments that are made about all the candidates I have proposed,” I. Šimonytė said of the criticism of the head of state. He added that the president has the right to have an opinion.
“Unusually when I was running for the post of minister, I had met only with President Valdas Adamkus, in the presence of his advisers. (…) I don’t want to teach my president how to do his job. Let him work as he sees fit, ”said I. Šimonytė about the ministerial selection procedure in the Presidency.
“I take personal responsibility for everyone,” he said.
