“The epidemiological situation is, unfortunately, such that we see no reason to talk about additional exemptions in the near future,” the prime minister said.
I. Šimonytė stated that it will be possible to talk about possible releases only after Easter, if the epidemiological situation allows it.
“Now our concern is different, first of all: in Vilnius, the epidemiological situation in Marijampolė is deteriorating fast enough, therefore, I think we will not have the opportunity to consider additional releases in the coming weeks. (…) We will be able to talk. of discussions on these issues after Easter, and only on the condition that the epidemiological situation stabilizes during that time, “said the Prime Minister.
I. Šimonytė declared at the press conference that the municipalities where the situation is better will face a great challenge and will maintain that situation.
“I am very hopeful that the municipalities that are now yellow, where the epidemiological situation is better, most of western Lithuania and central Lithuania will be able to maintain this situation. However, this will require a very large additional effort: the children. Primary school students have returned to schools since Monday: the number of contacts has increased. (…) Therefore, the active test and control would allow them to remain yellow ”, expected the Head of Government.
He said that if the situation showed that further adjustments were needed, the government would discuss it and make a decision on Thursday or Friday morning.
Recently, criticism has come from the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), which does not track all cases. According to I. Šimonytė, cases of untraceable diseases may be related to a reluctance to reveal the circumstances of the infection.
“I think there are different reasons why those cases are not fully traceable; there are not many cases. The NVSC stopped tracking fewer cases in the fall, when it surpassed 200 cases. We have not yet returned to this level during the work season. Another problem is the indeterminate number of cases, which are quite eloquent. In my opinion, they relate to people who do not want to reveal how they could have been infected. Perhaps they were related to some type of activity that is restricted under the regime of quarantine. I am very sorry, because it increases the risk for other members of society, “said the Prime Minister.
The “brighter” municipalities may also face more restrictive varieties
I. Šimonytė stated that two issues now cause headaches, so a possible tightening of the quarantine has not been accepted today.
“We need to assess what we want to achieve and how we can best achieve it. Now we have two headaches. A headache is the divergent dynamics in the country’s municipalities and the additional risks posed by the Easter holidays due to the increased movement of people. Another equally important topic is the South African virus strain (PAR). Which we have identified so far in 2 cases, as if they were not related, a few more or a dozen are being checked. Then we will need to coordinate those measures so that we can locate the spread of this variety.
It is very possible that if we detect that it has spread in some municipalities, in those municipalities, even though the epidemiological situation now looks technically better than in black, we will want to take additional measures to destroy the virus where we find it, if it is still present, possible . We are still explaining it now, “explained the Prime Minister.
She argued that it is not appropriate to look at the overall morbidity rate at this time.
“Much regulation is now linked to indicators in specific municipalities. (…) But given that the situation in black municipalities is deteriorating quite rapidly, it is very possible that this deterioration will be transferred to other municipalities (…), I’m afraid not it is very appropriate that we look at the general indicator, which is not very high now. We have to look at the dynamics and new emerging challenges, such as the PAR virus strain, “Prime Minister I. Šimonytė said on Wednesday.
