“I (with R. Petraitis – ELTA) spoke before the work of the Government. He asked to meet me himself. I knew him as an educated person, ”I. Šimonytė told LRT radio on Tuesday.

“We are not talking about his resignation, we are talking about how the work of the institution is for him, how he imagines the work of the institution.

I only asked her for her assessments of her situation and they turned out to be a bit far from reality, ”she said, noting that despite the impression of the NVSC holder, it is not she who has to decide on the fate of R. Petraitis in the position.

According to her, in general, it would be better if the managers themselves were self-critical.

“It would be better if people critically appraised their suitability for their current job or really demonstrated the ability to improve that job, or if they don’t, let others do it. Sometimes it happens that people stick to their position in various ways due to incapacity for work or other means. Then it is necessary to solve it by conventional legal methods “, summarized I. Šimonytė.

ELTA recalls that, despite calls from the Minister of Health, Petraitis refused to resign. According to the head of the NVSC, he did not hear any specific reason to question his work.

According to R. Petraitis, if there are specific deficiencies in the institution he heads or its activities, he will not adhere to the position.
