“As we head to my new jobs, I intend to get in touch with the experts I quickly persuaded to join the discussion today on what additional measures are needed so that we can get the situation back in control, at least for some time. “. I. Šimonytė said.

Asked what measures the public can expect, the prime minister replied that they would be restrictions “that would reduce the number of new cases” and support for medical institutions.

“The solutions that are needed to stabilize the situation itself will be the premise that will allow us to get out of a better situation. Along the way, there is also the capacity of the National Center for Public Health, to start tracking these cases with normality and vaccination plans, ”said the head of the new government.

I. Šimonytė admitted that on Monday we can agree to the new quarantine regulatory measures that have already entered into force.

“I cannot guarantee that there will be no changes during the weekend, because that is what we are going to meet with the experts, to discuss the situation,” the prime minister added.

Dust: we are on the brink of an emergency

Asked if the country would consider introducing a state of emergency that would allow the adoption of the strictest restrictions, he assured that this would be the worst scenario to address.

“I cannot answer that question. I just want to say that if we divide the whole process into four scenarios, what you mention is already the fourth, the worst case. We are already on the verge of that,” said the future minister.

A. Dulkys also mentioned that the prime minister-designate, Ingrida Šimonytė, promises, after the Government’s oath on Friday afternoon, to urgently convene experts to discuss the management of the situation, and after that she should decide on the first meeting of the Government, where the Cabinet to achieve that goal. “

“We will try to work hours, not days. To my knowledge, even today the Prime Minister will initiate (…) a meeting with experts, where there will be a very wide circle of experts, involving not only the medical communities, but also education. , businesses and other people, “said A. Dulkys.

The appointed minister says concrete follow-up will be discussed with experts and has identified at least five key areas that need to be addressed.

“One thing is directly related to the quarantine and the movement of people, apparently we are going to discuss these issues. The other thing is that vaccination is everything, which is very important for us to solve this problem. The third thing is that we see that there is a threatening situation in the medical institutions and we must attend to the number of beds, distribution, organization of work, ”said A. Dulkys.

According to him, there will also be a discussion on possible solutions in social care institutions and on the processes of the National Center for Public Health, review of work organization, possible new restrictions at points of sale.

A. Dulkys promises decisions about educational institutions later, in consultation not only with health experts but also with education experts.

New restrictions: this week

It also says that the stricter restrictions than the current ones should have occurred “yesterday”, so the goal will be to introduce them later this week.

“The way the numbers change in all areas, they no longer allow us to think about Tuesday, Monday. I believe that, as circumstances allow, we will try to get it started today, here and now. The entire Cabinet of Ministers is ready to work 24 hours, as needed, ”said the Minister.
