The quarantine has been introduced in Lithuania until January 31 inclusive. According to Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, it will be possible to talk about any quarantine changes no earlier than January 17.
“I am very cautious about the situation, because we had a few days where the numbers seemed quite favorable compared to some previous numbers. But today again the numbers are significant enough. This, of course, is related to changes in the volumes of proof that they have dropped significantly over the holiday period.
I can’t tell which direction we are moving today, if we have already peaked and are stabilizing and moving down, or not yet. Therefore, I think it is essential that we wait this week and next. And only at the end of next week, after two full weeks of work, I think we will be able to talk about what the dynamic is, ”I. Šimonytė told reporters on Wednesday.
He recalled that the Government will meet with experts to discuss quarantine measures and possible changes no later than January 17.
“The government will count on analysts’ perception of the dynamics, indicators and trends for the first two weeks of January this year. And then it will be able to consider whether there are reasons to ease restrictions.
So far I don’t see such a base. It is good that the health system has endured this entire festive period. But the development of its possibilities is occurring at the expense of other aid, and in some places the development of those possibilities is difficult, ”said I. Šimonytė.

“There is a possibility that the peak of the pandemic has passed, but we are still in a difficult situation,” the adviser told reporters on Wednesday after the president’s meeting with health experts.
Mr Krėpšta stressed that no definitive conclusions could yet be drawn and that this assumption would have to be confirmed next week.
“Of course, we had a holiday period introducing so-called additional data noise … We had fewer tests during the holiday weeks and this led to a certain reduction in the number of new cases,” he said.
The president’s adviser noted that so far “quarantine requirements have been relaxed” are still a long way off.
