Until the end of February, the government decided to extend the quarantine with all its previous conditions.

I. Šimonytė stated that although morbidity figures are falling, going to a slightly better C scenario should be careful.

“Now that the quarantine ends on January 31, we are still in scenario D. Although there is a possibility that we will cross that line. (…) Naturally, when we cross the line, we cannot release everything 100 percent the same day. Because we have to wait a bit and see that the downward trend is ingrained, “said the Prime Minister on the radio news program.

He stressed that the extension of the quarantine and all its conditions until February 28 does not mean that everything will be in force during this period.

“However, this does not mean that everything is registered, since it is until February 28,” said the politician.

He said the quarantined releases in scenario C could be decided in the coming weeks.

“If the situation continues to improve, there will be reasons to consider one or another quarantine release already in scenario C. I really think we will do it in February. But what the experts say, this should be done with caution, in addition to having other tools, comprehensive testing and better work with outbreaks. (…) We are preparing for that, algorithms are being prepared for that, and the purchases of testing tools are already coming to an end. Already this week, the Ministry of Health (SAM ) launched pilot tests for educational institutions, ”said I. Šimonytė.

The head of government said that the main priority now is to open educational institutions, especially primary education.

“The logic is that we test a segment before it opens and we test or vaccinate it regularly when it is their turn. And so we try to come back to life little by little. The priority is education, I can say that very clearly. But this does not mean that part of the business cannot start operating under other conditions. But the main priority is education, especially for beginners, “said the heads of government.

When asked who will open the doors soon: schools or hairdressers, I. Šimonytė stated that these institutions could open their doors at a similar time.

“It just came to our knowledge then. The point here is that it is probably easier to have a small number of contacts at the hairdresser than at school. Because at school, children not only interact with each other, but also with teachers. , parents of children. And that family contact about the opening of schools is much broader. As a result, schools need more work to open them smoothly. It is somewhere, apparently, at a similar time (will open, aut. P .) “, said I. Šimonytė on the radio news program.

The Prime Minister declared that rapid antigen tests could reach Lithuania for widespread use in the second half of February.
