“Now I don’t want to name any specific decisions that are under discussion, because if I name them, they will become headlines and some annotations of future decisions,” I. Šimonytė said during the government’s half hour in the Seimas on Thursday.
“I believe that the decisions will be taken tomorrow morning, we would like to see the Communicable Diseases Law signed, because we would like to make those decisions together that involve mandatory tests of certain activities, jobs or people,” said the head of government. continued.
When asked if the government plans to make decisions on the business restriction, the prime minister noted once again that this will become clear tomorrow.
“When there are decisions, we will make them correct,” emphasized the Head of Government.
Decisions to speed up vaccination on weekends will be after Easter
According to I. Šimonytė, decisions on speeding up vaccination on weekends are likely to be made after Easter.
“Only a few municipalities will now start vaccinating on Easter weekends. For example, you probably know that Klaipeda Municipality plans to vaccinate on weekends; no one forbids it now. Certain organizational decisions will be needed and they will be, but more so after Easter, because in those weeks we will definitely start getting larger amounts of vaccinations on a regular basis, and then that vaccination on weekends will become a universal need, probably throughout Lithuania. . We will have to prepare for that, but I think we can do it after Easter, ”said the Prime Minister.
When asked what will be done with those municipalities where people take a long time to take advantage of the opportunity to get vaccinated, I. Šimonytė replied that the population will continue to be encouraged to do so and that vaccines will be redistributed to other priority groups.

“We will not force it, we will continue to call and we will continue to call. Municipalities can move down the order of priorities. I also think that we will try to find some centralized solutions for some very large groups, like education, graduates, where there are these people in all municipalities. and there are many of them. (…) Those decisions are made.
As far as I know, there are certain deadlines: if these vaccines are not used within the established timeframe, they will be redistributed to the municipalities where the movement is fastest, ”said the Prime Minister, noting that the Government’s goal is to keep Lithuania moving smoothly. .
He also said that responses should be received tomorrow regarding a larger study of the prevalence of coronavirus strains in Lithuania.
“First we have to find out where that variety is found. Now we know that these are Kėdainiai and Vilnius, Grigiškės. We will also try to offer organizational solutions that allow us to control the situation in those places, of course, without coercion, but with the firm hope that people will seize this opportunity. We would like to believe that we will not detect too much spread with these additional evaluations that are still being carried out by the laboratory, ”expressed hope I. Šimonytė.
On Monday, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys also admitted that the volume of vaccinations on weekends is unsatisfactory.
“Tomorrow we have a meeting with the vaccination centers of the municipalities. We are about to negotiate. We already invite you to start working on Saturdays and Sundays. We have not done it deliberately until now, because those vaccine remains, as many as they were, were processed in their entirety on weekdays. Today the situation is different and we have to start working both on Saturdays and Sundays, ”said the minister on Monday.
