“I received an invitation, I really think we had a very formal conversation, this time we were not politicized. I wanted to hear the situation, I presented it. There were also many questions about testing strategies, tools, and preparation. We really talk about it very naturally, ”said A. Veryga.

The candidate of the possible new ruling coalition for the post of Prime Minister, Member of Parliament Ingrida Šimonytė also welcomed the meeting.

“We have heard (useful info, aut. P.), we have heard some good news: that the mobile application, which many have been waiting for the last six months, is finally starting to work. There has been some information about the decisions made by the government, after which the coordination of hospitalizations is expected to be more successful than at present.

We had a working meeting, the Minister promised that during the handover to the future head of the ministry, everything will go well and with good will, “said I. Šimonytė after the meeting.

When asked what the new government will do differently in the fight against coronavirus, the politician said he could highlight one aspect at a time.

“First of all, what will be different is communication. As we still listen to the Prime Minister today, I am very sorry that he tends to continue to intimidate people. I don’t know if that brings the society together for collaboration. Because I really would not like to think that the decisions that are being made now are determined by the results of the elections. There are very clear objectives that the Government was pursuing, it would be good if those objectives were public and thus there would be less speculation, “said candidate for prime minister I. Šimonytė.

According to her, the purpose of the quarantine is to control the growth of new cases and make new cases reach a certain point, when health institutions can return to their normal work.

“We asked the minister today what level is expected and what he would like to see in a week or two, what to do then and what is the exit strategy. In other words, if things go well and turn out as the Government sees it now, Ireland is doing the same, the main thing the new Government will have to think about, how to get out of that situation. Because it is not as difficult to apply the parking brake as to move it later ”, – I. Šimonytė named the essential work.

Before the meeting, Mr. Veryga said that he expected a constructive conversation.

“I hope to have a business discussion. And it can be anyway, we will see, I do not want to have preconceived notions. I am determined to speak honestly if there is such a desire. I had already suggested it before. But if the language is the same as it has been in the public space until now, it will be so useless to speak, ”the minister told the media.
