Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė called for “ringworm reduction and movement” with the rapid spread of new strains of coronavirus.
“A board of experts will meet on Monday and we will consider what other safety requirements might be imposed, given that there is a period leading up to the holidays when people rush to stores to buy food, perhaps in large quantities and in large crowds … It seems that there is also a need to engage in discussions with business enterprises, and I appeal to the Minister of Economy and Innovation to also participate in such discussions on additional security measures for people who may be in greater numbers than I would like to make sure that this in itself is not a place of additional risk, “said I. Šimonytė at the government meeting.
Furthermore, according to the Prime Minister, other expert proposals to the Government will be discussed next week, if any.
“We do not offer to close activities. Although the quarantine is extended, it is extended under current conditions. We understand that the main risk does not arise from the fact that there are hairdressers or shops in operation,” said I. Šimonytė after the meeting.
He noted that the main risk is due to the intensification of human contacts.
“We see that there are many companies, especially the smaller ones, that scrupulously comply with the requirements established for the performance of activities,” said I. Šimonytė.
Asked about how the new collection restrictions would be, the prime minister assured that “there is still a real need to consult and dialogue with experts and representatives of the companies themselves.”
“We all understand what the pre-holiday periods are like, we have probably seen more than once, a lot of people want to be in the same place, the areas are limited, the requirements are met in different ways. In really small companies with a small area and clearly written how many people can be in the room, this is the case. In larger spaces, that control will probably not always be what we would like. It will be necessary to discuss and talk about whether additional requirements are needed or whether it is possible to simply agree that existing requirements are scrupulously observed, ”explained I. Šimonytė.
He assured that business associations will be consulted on what additional conditions could be imposed, given that the period prior to Easter “could intensify in terms of purchases and thereby increase the risks to be managed.”
“I would very much like us to take advantage of this pre-holiday and festive period to stop and thus help us reduce the height of the third wave,” emphasized I. Šimonytė.
The second universal quarantine in the country lasts from November 7 of last year, extended from Friday to May.
