“According to the number of large cities, 100 thousand. Population we get the least amount [vakcinos dozių] even taking the statistical population. If we take the real population, we get even less, although we also vaccinate those who have registered in other cities ”, said R. Šimašius on the program“ Events of the week ”.

Vaccination rates in the capital, according to him, are good, so vaccine residues, including the even less popular AstraZeneca, are practically non-existent.

“In the category of older people, we have a higher percentage of vaccinated people, we have no vaccine residues.”

As a result, according to R. Šimašius, after the Ministry of Health (SAM) announced the possibility of vaccination for companies with more than 100 employees, the municipality faces a new challenge.

“What the minister announced about companies is that it is possible [skiepyti], if you do vaccinations, it is not really adapted for Vilnius, but perhaps for smaller municipalities, because we have no leftovers. “We are facing a new challenge because companies are applying and we just don’t have those balances,” he said.

According to R. Šimašius, the increased activity of the population is noted by allowing them to register for vaccination themselves.

“Although people were invited, as should be done according to the intentions of the Ministry, just under half of the guests arrived, while when people registered, 96.5 percent arrived and older adults even 99.1 percent. The numbers are very impressive and good, “said the mayor of Vilnius.

According to him, the vaccination procedure should be more flexible, allowing an old poster and possibly offering vaccination to people working in the service sector.

“When it comes to rights, we want more rights to move forward. <…> What I myself have been proposing from the beginning is to allow the cartels of the age, I am glad that the government has heard some of this, they have started to vaccinate the officials. I know that in some municipalities this was also done in the past, because there was no one to get vaccinated from the group of chronic diseases, and you couldn’t even see who was suffering from these diseases, “said R. Šimašius on the” Events of the week “program.

5,745 people were vaccinated in Vilnius over the weekend, and people over 55 are invited to register from Monday. According to Lina Koriznienė, head of the Vilnius City Municipal Administration, more than half of the COVID-19 patients treated at the Santara Clinics and the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital are under 65 years of age.
