According to the Vilnius municipality, it will be the largest vaccination center in the country.
“We are around 65 percent. We have vaccinated more than 65 categories. (…) It is almost impossible to reach 90%. Vaccinated by such people. (…) We must vaccinate the youngest.”
R. Šimašius is happy to receive a record number of vaccinations this week, so he expects even more people to be vaccinated.
“This week we have more than 42 thousand. Vaccinations.”
He also emphasized that healthcare professionals experience congestion in coronavirus patients because they both vaccinate and work with patients and in other jobs. Therefore, he says, it is necessary to expand the circle of personnel who could work with the vaccinated.
“Litexpo is working perfectly so far and I invite you to get vaccinated.”
He also appealed to the Russian-speaking population in Russian, as they rarely agreed to get vaccinated, even by all possible means.
According to him, mass vaccination depends on the number of vaccines available and it is not so easy for the Ministry of Health (SAM) to put everything together. He also hinted that there is no possibility of returning students to schools through mass testing, as there are not so many professionals who can enter that data into the system.
“If someone else could make changes to the legislation, it could be successful.”
Call for the vaccination of young people
The mayor of Vilnius wrote a little earlier on his Facebook account that Litexpo is in a convenient location, well adapted to large flows of people.
“We are ready for mass vaccination, we can vaccinate up to 15 thousand people a day only in this center. people. Only the vaccine is missing. And we are starting to run out of staff; I would ask the Seimas to decide earlier and allow more people to be used for vaccination and testing, ”said R. Šimašius.
He also said he needs to isolate himself from Monday.
“I didn’t call from NVSC (apparently not yet), but I had a brief but still contact with a colleague in his 60s. I couldn’t have come up with a better example of why we have to look more quickly at people more young but at risk.
They are actively involved in the labor market, they have daily contacts and we are still wasting time selecting and prioritizing: who can get vaccinated and who can’t. Let’s vaccinate those who want it as soon as possible, we persuade those who don’t want it after that, “stressed the mayor of Vilnius.
He indicated that from 2 pm the vaccination will reopen to a broader group of people, even people over 55 years of age inclusive. Click here to register.
In addition to this center and the polyclinics in the capital, there are two larger vaccination centers in Vilnius: in the municipality (Konstitucijos ave. 3) and in the Žirmūnai non-formal education center (Žirmūnų str. 1B). The municipality assures that after the opening of the Litexpo center, the polyclinics will be able to focus on booster vaccination of those previously vaccinated and home vaccination of patients with mobility difficulties.
