Kindergartens are one of the places where COVID-19 chimneys are most common. And while the kindergarten staff had the opportunity to get vaccinated as a matter of priority, far from everyone they did.

More than half of the Vilnius kindergarten employees were vaccinated. The director says that earlier, when the first vaccines arrived in Lithuania, far fewer people would have agreed to be vaccinated. But now the opinion has changed.

“People started writing (in a row, aut. P.) Vaccines. They have not yet been vaccinated, but they have registered. People believed. And that language has now become more cohesive, people believed that it was necessary to do it, ”said Liucija Milašauskienė, head of the Vilnius“ Dainorėliai ”nursery school.

The remaining workers test regularly while they wait for the vaccine. However, according to the kindergarten director, there are those who completely refuse to be vaccinated. I would agree if it were possible to get a different vaccine than AstraZeneca.

“It just came to our attention then. The next time those conclusions are unfounded, you heard something somewhere. I also talk to the employees that even in the lemon description, everything can be written,” said L. Milašauskienė.

Sonata Valiulienė, who works as a family doctor at the Vilnius Center Polyclinic, says that she is currently experiencing a real working year. More than a dozen patients who receive the vaccine must call each day. However, the hardest part of vaccination is convincing those who are at risk.

“Everywhere we talk, we write, we say that they definitely need it, because other diseases can get complicated. This infection can cause further complications, so it is necessary to persuade them as much as possible. They say that they are already sick, that they have illnesses, that’s why we want to make them worse, ”said the family doctor.

Patients have the most questions about AstraZeneca. But according to the GP, this is often just an unfounded fear.

“One vaccine that sounds strong is that some people say they don’t want it. It is because of the clots, because there are many articles, we hear it on television. So it is necessary to say what a small percentage of these complications is, ”said S. Valiulienė.

The doctor says that those patients who have already received the vaccine and feel bad after a while also call. And sometimes there are situations where patients have a placebo effect: when they feel bad, patients are convinced that it is a side effect of the vaccine.

The European Medicines Agency has confirmed blood clots as a very rare side effect of AstraZeneca.

Professor Dalius Jatužis, a neurologist at the Santara Clinics, states that there are 86 cases of venous thrombosis in the world for 25 million vaccinated people. Therefore, thrombi are more likely to form during prolonged flight.

“After vaccinating 2 million Lithuanians, we will have 7 cases. When, in the meantime, more than 10 people die from coronavirus every day. The risk-benefit balance, I think, is obvious. That vaccination is necessary is also necessary what sooner rather than later, ”the doctor told LNK News.

The Drug Control Service has received more than 1,700 reports of reactions to vaccines from all manufacturers in more than three months. There have been 6 reports of blood clotting, but according to the service, none of the cases have been linked to vaccines.

“The man went to get vaccinated and on the way home he felt pain in his leg, in the calf area. He still waited a bit, suffered, went to the doctors and had thrombophlebitis, ”said Rugilė Pilvinienė, specialist at the Medicines Control Service.

In March there were more than 150 reactions to the Pfizer vaccine, about 60 for the Moderna vaccine and more than 300 for the AstraZeneca vaccine.
