Sick hairdressers from Covid-19 no longer belong to the 257 euros: the ministry proposes to ask again

Delfi has received a complaint from a woman who worked as a hairdresser for not receiving a payment of 257 euros.

“My case is that I honestly withdraw my business license every month, but I got sick from Covid-19 on November 2 and took my business license on November 12, and the new law requires continuous operations until November 7, the day quarantine, so my grant application was rejected, “he said.

The reader was outraged that there was no exception in the law that a person with Covid-19 should be socially disadvantaged and receive a subsidy because they are even more vulnerable.

“This specific situation has seriously affected not only my personal finances but also those of my family,” he said.

There are other helps

As you know, the self-employment benefit assesses whether the self-employment activity has been registered for at least 3 months in 12 months, has not been discharged before the date of the declaration of emergency and quarantine, and if the person has not you have received more than the monthly minimum wage.

“It can be assumed that at the time of granting the benefit to a self-employed worker, the woman may not meet one of the above conditions: self-employment was terminated,” said Edita Banienė, head of the Department of Communication of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

He also noted that the data on self-employment were verified and the Employment Service made the decision to grant the benefit.

“We recommend that the woman contact the Employment Service again with additional information, requesting a review of the decision to grant a lump sum benefit,” he advised.

A ministry spokeswoman also pointed out that the universal quarantine had been announced since November 7, but the activities of hairdressers had been restricted by a government decision only since December 16.

We also recall that the self-employed affected by a pandemic can also benefit from the following state aid measures:

The self-employed may defer contributions to Sodra without interest and interest if their activities are included in the list of victims of the Covid-19 restrictions published by the State Tax Inspection;

The self-employed are temporarily exempt from the payment of compulsory health insurance contributions (they must pay contributions for the quarantine period within a period of 2 years. Even without paying the PSD, these residents can receive health care;

A person or family in financial difficulties can apply to their municipality for social assistance in cash: social benefits, compensation for heating and water costs, ”he said.

The benefit of 257 EUR is paid once a month during an emergency or quarantine and one month after its cancellation.

As of January 1, only those people for whom the Government has established restrictions on economic activities or who are included in the list of victims of Covid-19 restrictions published by the STI may request it.
