“The restrictions related to the educational process will go into effect from Monday. Distance education will be introduced for students in sixth through twelfth grade, and students in first through fifth grade and kindergartens will go on the fly. Just to the extent that institutions are asked to further ensure that classes do not meet by increasing the separation of flows, ”said D. Griškevičius.

“Non-formal education activities will also be suspended from Monday,” he added.

According to him, as of Saturday, healthcare institutions are recommended not to accept new patients, except for seriously ill patients, as well as to restrict the attendance of existing wards.

In addition, the activities of the mobile coronavirus checkpoint are being reinforced.

“It just came to our knowledge then. We are asking other municipalities for help with human resources,” said the deputy mayor.

According to D. Griškevičius, some of the events are also limited from Saturday.

“Where there are municipal sporting, cultural or other events, we will cancel, suspend or postpone them. Additionally, permits will not be issued for events in public spaces. Where there are no subordinate municipal institutions, they must comply with the requirements of the Operations Manual, ”he said.

According to Vicemer, the bans will not apply to professional sports competitions.

“It’s just that we will recommend to teams that they possibly change schedules and compete on field trips,” he said.

In total, public health specialists have detected more than 130 cases of coronavirus in Šiauliai since the beginning of September.

A total of 3,932 cases of COVID-19 disease have been confirmed in Lithuania, 1,581 people are still ill and 2,246 have recovered.

A total of 89 people died from COVID-19 and 18 people died from other causes.
