The Maxima XXX store in Aleksotas will open its doors starting Thursday. Shoppers flooded it since Wednesday morning.
Kaunas residents were drawn to the deep discounts applied here. According to them, it was cheaper to buy not only groceries, but also alcoholic beverages, household items, etc.
“I loaded a cart full of various products, it will be enough for at least a week,” said Lauryna, who met at the store.
Virginia said she was not expecting such a large number of people. “Some forget the quarantine rules, they don’t follow the distances. I bought only what I needed, ”explained the Kaunas resident.

There was a large flow of people inside the store Wednesday afternoon, but the lines outside did not sell out. In the evening, buyers who come here will be greeted with empty shelves of some products: alcoholic beverages, toilet paper, kitchen utensils (pots, pans, baking molds), pet food.

Ernesta Dapkienė, director of Maxima’s Communication and Image Department, stated that the Maxima XXX store will be closed only temporarily from July 1.
“We always strive to create the best possible conditions for a quick, convenient and pleasant purchase for our customers, therefore, starting tomorrow, July 1, in Kaunas, Veiverių str. 150B, the Maxima XXX store is temporarily closed for renovation. We plan to renovate this store later this year. We plan to carry out the entire reconstruction of the building along with the renovation and modernization of the engineering systems. The store will update the commercial equipment and install other modern and up-to-date solutions. There will be more self-service checkouts and Scan & Go self-service scanning technology will be installed, the sales network representative said.
The renovated Maxima store will greatly expand the range of fresh foods.
