Currently R is 1.03 so the rate of the epidemic keeps increasing, but we really want to believe that it will move to the limit within that unit. So far, sadly, the trends are such that we are seeing an increase in the number of cases, and it is particularly concerning that the number of cases per day is high. If we compare today’s and last week’s numbers on the same day, they would have increased by 30%, ”said M. Stankūnas.
Compatriots’ mobility fell
The professor also presented a recent report on Lithuanian mobility. He noted that January is taken as a starting point, and one of the most discussed areas is shopping malls, entertainment.
“At the beginning of the quarantine spring, this mobility was reduced by 65%. Before the new restrictions were announced in early November, the figure was -37-38%. When the first restrictions were introduced on November 6, the decrease was around 45 percent.
Last Monday and Tuesday, there was a very strong increase in mobility from -25 to 45. Thus, the photos of the supermarket storm are also reflected in the statistics. After the restrictions were introduced on Wednesday, visits to these centers practically fell to the same level as during the first quarantine, ”explained M. Stankūnas.

He stressed that the strict quarantine was introduced only a few days ago and it is too early to draw any conclusions about its impact. He said it would be possible to do it in a few days by the end of this week.
