“At the Santara clinics, we are currently treating 169 patients with COVID-19 infection, 24 of whom are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. Inevitably we had to ask for help in the support hospitals, 230 patients are already being treated in the support hospitals in the Vilnius region, ”L. Jančorienė said at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Health.

According to her, the largest partner of the Santara clinics is currently the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, which treats 126 coronavirus patients.

L. Jančorienė also emphasizes that in response to the fact that up to 2,272 coronavirus cases were confirmed on Thursday, the Santara Clinic is preparing for a possible increase in COVID-19 patient flows over the weekend. According to her, the occupancy of COVID-19 beds in the Santara clinics has dropped to 70%.

“The number of cases has been really high and since the symptoms of a serious illness usually appear in the second week of the illness, we can predict that we will receive a number of seriously ill patients who will also need hospital care during the weekend”, said.

L. Jančorienė also emphasizes that generally only a few CVID-19 beds are left in the Santara clinics for very seriously ill patients, and those patients whose treatment can be carried out in other support hospitals are referred to them.
