The tradition of singing the Lithuanian anthem on July 6 was observed for the thirteenth time.
According to the organizers, this time singing the “National Anthem” will give meaning to the idea of ”unequal, but united.”
For the first time, the “National Anthem” was sung unanimously by Lithuanians in 2009.
This time it sounded on the occasion of the millennium of the name of Lithuania, when the sailors of our country, going around the world with the yacht Ambersail, invited 26 Lithuanian communities from all over the world to celebrate this anniversary together.
For more than a decade, the tradition cherished by Lithuanians around the world has now acquired official status, on July 6. It is not only celebrated on the day of the coronation of the State or King Mindaugas, but also the “National Anthem”.
The anthem of our country was played at the same time in many other capitals and places of the world. The square near the Capitol in the US and the Atlantic coast, the access to the Colosseum in Rome, the roof of the Opera House in the center of Oslo are just a few examples where Lithuanians from all over the world come together to sing together the anthem every year.
