SAM: Two freezers for vaccine storage arrived in Lithuania

These two ultra low temperature freezers (at -75 degrees) will only be used for some vaccines that require very low temperatures. These freezers were scheduled to arrive in Lithuania in 2021. However, the Health Emergencies Center (ESSC), which depends on the Ministry of Health, was able to purchase these freezers before and on December 10. they arrived in Lithuania.

It should be noted that the delivery time of the freezers was one of the evaluation criteria when selecting the supplier of the product. For other vaccines that will suffice to store at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees, the ESSC has adequate facilities (cold room) for the storage of drugs that require such a temperature regime.

The SAM recalls that the ESSC, in implementation of the Vaccination Plan prepared by the Ministry of Health, continues to carry out the procedures for the acquisition of vaccines and vaccine storage equipment against the coronavirus.
