“There are very few municipalities of this type that would vaccinate everything: Rokiškis, small municipalities. Perhaps it is easier for them, because both vacationers come there and the amounts they receive are lower. But these units, most of them are already vaccinating less, some ask to reduce the quantities sent, so the situation is worse than better ”, Lukas Galkus, Chief Specialist of the Department of Information Resources and Electronic Health System told LRT by SAM. Radio on Tuesday.

He said that SAM was not aware of the situation mentioned by the mayor of Druskininkai, Ričardas Malinauskas, that the municipality was short of those who wanted to vaccinate. According to him, if the municipality identified a greater need, it would receive more vaccines.

“We see where it is not vaccinated, or we do not send it to those municipalities or we send less, and where it is vaccinated, we keep the same amounts, sometimes we increase them, but every week when we distribute vaccines, we communicate directly with the municipalities and ask them to inform if they need to increase or decrease the amount of vaccines they receive, ”said a SAM specialist.

“The municipalities themselves, as they see the records for next week, inform us if they would like to receive more or less of those vaccines, and then we change those numbers again,” he said.

According to L. Galkus, the previous systems, when vaccines were distributed proportionally to municipalities, have been abandoned in principle and everyone can receive everything they need.

“They are trying to distribute them proportionally, but then the figures are strongly adjusted due to vaccine residues in municipalities, which practically no longer work. “Because we have a surplus of vaccines, it is basically distributed as needed,” he said.

According to data from the Statistics Department this Monday, in Lithuania 45.7% have received at least one vaccine against the coronavirus. people, currently unused, around 746 thousand. vaccine dose.
