Salary jump in a region: the amount is almost equal to the metropolitan areas

Do the statistics show the real situation?

There is no doubt that many people from Kėdainiai, who earn only an average salary, will only shrug their shoulders wondering where those numbers come from and who earns so much in Kėdainiai.

After a more detailed analysis of them and talking to the heads of the Kėdainiai District Municipality, it is clear that the naked figures alone do not reflect the actual situation. Not only that, it can be said that such statistical calculations even distort it.

“Such figures and the fourth place occupied by the Kėdainiai district in terms of the amount of wages in the data tables of statistical calculators show nothing more than the fact that the significant growth of this number is the merit of various companies from District.

I don’t have exact data, but based on my previous work experience at the State Tax Inspectorate, I can assume that only a few district companies paid their employees bonuses or bonuses for last year’s results in the first quarter of this year, so our average district salary has increased “., – says Gintautas Muznikas, deputy director of the municipal administration of the Kėdainiai district.

Paulius Aukštikalnis, Deputy Mayor of Kėdainiai District, also agrees with him: “Our district companies have long used an advanced methodology for employee promotion: bonuses.

I myself have worked not only in Lithuania but also in foreign pharmaceutical companies, I am well aware that the 13th salary or other annual bonuses are paid to the employees in the first quarter of next year for the results obtained, so I have no You doubt that this distorts average salary statistics.

However, these statistics show another very good thing: the fact that there are very strong and modern companies in our district that not only operate profitably, but also provide excellent opportunities for their employees to earn money. ”

Only annual figures should be calculated.

G. Muznikas is convinced that to know the real average salary both in the Kėdainiai district and in any other Lithuanian city, it is necessary to calculate the average salary results for the whole year, not for the first quarter of the year.

“To have real numbers, it is necessary to evaluate the annual indicators.

Summaries cannot be made based on the results of a month or a quarter. The actual situation is reflected only in the annual indicators.

If we analyze individual months, the statistics are distorted.

For example, a small business pays annual bonuses to employees, and statistically it turns out that it pays almost the highest wages in the country.

That is why it cannot be said that the average salary in Kėdainiai has increased significantly and our district is the fourth in the country according to its average.

In fact, Kėdainiai is in really high eighth place according to the average salary paid last year, and not in fourth place, as shown in the first quarter of this year, “says G. Muznikas.

How will wages change?

It is very difficult to predict how wages will change in the coming years, in the context of an emergency situation due to COVID-19.

For most it is already clear that, as there is talk of a new crisis, the primary objective is to keep jobs and wages at least at the same level.

“Jobs have decreased throughout Lithuania due to the general situation in the world.

The trends are the same everywhere: the pandemic has led to many restrictions that have been in place for a long time, leading to a sharp drop in both production and exports of goods.

It is particularly difficult to predict trends as the world prepares for the second wave of COVID-19.

“No one knows what will happen next, so it is highly likely that companies will invest all of their current earnings not in employees’ wages, but in” growing drips “so that they have more than enough resources to survive a new crisis.” Deputy Mayor P Highlands said.

How will new companies affect the labor market?

To have a strong impact on the labor market and the wages of employees in Kėdainiai, P. Aukštikalnis does not expect: “The more new companies invest, the more automated their production processes are and the less labor they need.

Conversely, small jobs are often created by small startups, especially those focused on the service sector.

Sometimes 5 small businesses create more jobs alone than one huge one, investing millions.

Therefore, it is very important that we have simplified the procedure for assigning support to the municipality of the Kėdainiai district: almost all district council meetings make decisions to assign support to small and medium-sized enterprises.

I am very pleased that I, too, have been involved in changing and simplifying the regulations of the District’s Small and Medium Business Support Procedure Fund, under which support is distributed.

In any case, it is in the interest of the municipality that both large and small companies create jobs here.

Furthermore, it is important that the people who work in Kaunas or Panevėžys create their lives in our district. Working in a big city while living in a cozy little city is popular all over the world.

I am glad that such trends are already taking place in our country.

They also benefit the municipality, although a person works elsewhere, here, in his place of residence, he uses all social services ”.
