“I really see a real opportunity to open up to the Baltic region, plus there is a possibility that the Republic of Poland can also join,” he said before the Seimas session.

According to the Prime Minister, the situation in the three Baltic States and Poland is similar, similar measures are applied to crisis management, therefore, openness is “really real”.

“There would be no restrictions for businesses and travelers crossing borders, no mandatory 14-day quarantine and the like,” S. Skvernel explained to the people. “We could move between the Baltic states on the same principles as we do today, and in the same way: there would be no restrictions on doing business by exporting goods, working abroad or working abroad.”

Speaking to the Polish prime minister on Monday, the head of government said he had received a positive response from Mateusz Morawiecki to the opening proposal. On Wednesday, S.Svvernelis will practically communicate with his Estonian and Latvian colleagues, then a decision must be made to travel to these countries.

“Poland is also inclined to consider the issue,” Skvernel said. “All the more since a certain facilitation regime was established since Saturday.”

A free trip to other countries should not be expected. “Certainly, today it would be difficult for me to propose to the government to make decisions regarding free movement to those countries where such measures have not been applied, and the mortality and morbidity curve is much higher sometimes than in Lithuania,” explained S Skvernelis.

Skvernel attended a remote meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Monday, followed by a government-issued statement indicating that it was agreed to facilitate the movement of border residents across the border. According to the Prime Minister, the first step could be to resume the movement of student and worker exchanges on the border with Poland in the near future.
