Vilnius Rytas will announce the start of the academy to be established on behalf of the club this week. Last week, at the club’s shareholders meeting, it was decided to become shareholders of the Baltijos sporto akademija Public Institution and to establish the Rytas Academy as the base of this institution.

This was confirmed on the BasketNews.lt website by Adomas Bužinskas, the chairman of the Ryto board.

The Baltijos sporto akademija Public Institution became public at the end of July of this year, when it received 220 thousand LTL from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports. Although it does not do any actual activity and was installed only earlier this year, three weeks before the application deadline was up.

Rita Šimelienė, director of the Baltic Sports Academy, confirmed to the BasketNews.lt website that the company she founded currently has no contracts with either the coach or the child, but declined to comment further.

“I don’t have any specific information, so I have nothing to say,” he asked about the future of the academy, Šimelienė said. “Everything has to be clear this week.”

At the end of July, it was announced that this academy would be called Lavrinovičius, but according to BasketNews.lt, both parties could not reach an agreement.

Public money was allocated to this body despite the fact that the Sports Projects Commission recommended not supporting the new company. After reviewing the project by the Ministry specialists, Minister Algirdas Monkevičius signed a decision to allocate almost a quarter of a million.

“If the commission, as the highest authority of the project, makes its recommendations, and this is underestimated, someone goes to the minister and tells him that the commission, I am sorry, was not competent enough, did not provide arguments, and we will still include these projects, so I don’t know if this can be called transparency, ”Sigita Kriaučiūnienė, a member of the Sports Projects Commission, told lrt.lt in July.

Colones are launched this season

Such a decision by the ministry caused discontent among several sports organizations seeking support, including Šarūnas Marčiulionis, who previously had his own basketball school.

“The way that money is distributed to this day is a humiliation for the entire sports community,” lrt.lt quoted Marčiulionis at the end of July. – You give money to someone you trust, and you trust someone who has contributed not only in time, but has also contributed money to the development of sport, the development of sports culture and who wants to contribute money. Companies that have been in existence for 7 months have an employee and they wrote a lot of papers, I don’t think they should receive 200 thousand euros ”.

According to Bužinskas, Chairman of the Rytas board of directors, the fact that this institution has received outrageous support is not the business of the club.

Rytas shareholders decided to become a part of that institution last Wednesday, Bužinskas told the BasketNews.lt website. – As much as we try to put it, that we have tried to pressure, negotiate or influence in some other way the Ministry of Education to provide support, it does not even make much sense.

I cannot honestly comment on the granting of support as I was not involved in either the distribution or the application. “Rytas” joined the academy as an organization after the fact. “

Rytas has so far cooperated with Capital Basketball School and Vilnius Basketball School.
