Kaunas “Žalgiris” fans will see another newcomer to the team in the upcoming season. The Lithuanian team of champions signed a one-year contract with midfielder Joffrey Lauvergne.

The 28-year-old basketball player has played for Istanbul’s Fenerbahce since 2018 and previously tasted NBA bread. Outside of the Atlantic, he played for the Denver Nuggets, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma Thunder, and San Antonio Spurs.
Before the stage, the NBA Lauvergne also played for Chalon Elan (France), Valencia Basket (Spain), Belgrade Partizan (Serbia) and the Moscow Chimki region (Russia).
The 211-centimeter-tall Frenchman, who wore the Turkish team’s jersey last season, spent an average of 13 minutes on the court after racking up 6.3 points and catching 2.7 rebounds.
In the Turkish championship, Lauvergne played 22 minutes per game and scored 10.5 points, recovered 6.7 points and made 2 assists.
The new Žalgiris was also an important member of the French national team. Along with the national team, he won the gold of the European Championship in Slovenia in 2013, and in 2015 he won a bronze medal in France. He also won a bronze medal at the 2014 FIBA World Basketball Championship.
Lauvergne became the fourth newcomer to Žalgiris this summer and was joined by previously hired Tomas Dimša, Steve Vasturia and Marek Blaževičius, and Marius Grigonis and Lukas Lekavičius will continue the match at Žalgiris.
