Mira, who saw the world in December, is one of the many caged puppies found on the outskirts of Kretinga. The owner of the quadruple does not hide that he has seen pets oppressed in many foreign countries by becoming a business of illegal breeders and traffickers, but he does not hide that he could not have imagined that such a day animal hell would be so close.
“We signed a contract with each buyer for ourselves. It is a disciplinary measure both for the new owner and a kind of guarantee for us. In fact, I never imagined that I would have to take advantage of such a condition. I imagined that it was a more disciplinary measure. All of this. It seemed quite far away, I had to see those photos, examples in Poland, Russia or another country. That such a thing had not been heard or seen in Lithuania. That activity is a hobby for me, not a source of livelihood. We were professionally deceived “, says R. Godeliauskas.

Mira’s new host bought it in March. The story, which persuaded the sale of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to a woman resident in Kretinga, according to the interlocutor, raised no doubts. The woman came with the child, told him that his mother was still raising a puppy who had spent her whole life with four-legged children and loved them very much. For months, the woman told the breeder over the phone over the phone that everything was fine to keep the pet safe. So the story that began to emerge on Thursday night shocked R. Godeliauskas and his family.
“It is a very large gap that we breeders, who do business in good faith, have nowhere to verify what to ask about the reliability of the buyer, if they are not punished for improper care of the animal or if the animals have ever been confiscated. There is no such system and control, ”says Mirtta, who was born in her kennel less than a year ago.
The man considers that the hatcheries or other people who do not take responsible care of the animals are simply encouraged by the responsible authorities to take care of them, to eliminate the deficiencies, but the control does not exist. Illegal breeders are no longer a veterinary matter, they should be monitored by the Fiscal Inspection in some way, but it would be really difficult to supervise illegal ones.
“It seems we have a lot of those institutions, but in this case, breeding, reproduction, there is no one to control. I think there should be a register of convicted people, which would be available to breeders or the Lithuanian Society of Cynologists, those who they honestly dedicate themselves to such activities. Then things like that would be avoided “, considers the interlocutor.
The Rokiškis district mayor does not hide that he learned of the fate of his puppy from the kennel on Friday. One of the volunteers called and reported that the new hosts had not re-registered Mira on their own behalf.
“I didn’t even sleep much at night. I couldn’t control, make sure who was through the buyer. It went to those hands, what hands are there, the cage. And now we are driving, she (Look, – Delfi clarification) is afraid of everything, traumatized, a lot of work awaits her. I no longer speak of physical condition. He seems to be exhausted. I realize that he spent that time in a cage, not outside. Eyes are sensitive to light, scared. She had no communication with a person, which is necessary for this breed ”, read R. Godeliauskas about Mira.
Mira’s removal was facilitated by the fact that there was a contract and the woman did not re-register on behalf of the new owners. While the pre-trial investigation is in progress, not all the animals must be turned over to new owners, so after taking over from Miras R. Godeliauskas he promised not to turn him over to anyone in writing and to be a temporary guardian. However, this, according to the interlocutor, is just a formality for him, because in other hands, looking for new hosts, they do not intend to do so. And if you hear that Mirta is being demanded to be returned to your former hands, the breeder does not hide that there will be a strict “no”.
R. Godeliauskas says that he is very grateful to everyone who took care of the quadrupeds for a few days, checked them at the vets, trimmed them and bathed them. However, Mirai promises to do all the necessary research again and will do her best not to be afraid of interacting with people again.
