41 seconds before the end of the game. Kretinga took the lead 69:68 and had the ball in his hands. Even so, Justas Grikštas did not take advantage of the grateful opportunity and lost from below the basket. 16 seconds left Kretinga Domininkas Matutis’s foul on the penalty line sent Augustinas Kiudula. The 17-year-old scored 1 of 2 free throw, but Kretinga was unable to recover the ball from under his basket. With the sound of a siren, 17-year-old defender Gytis Valickas snatched the victory with a long shot from Rivilei.
Valickas, who became the hero of the match, said: “First of all, at the beginning of the match we managed to neutralize his player (Matutis, – author’s note). He released his pitches later, but in the first half we put a lot of influence on him. Personally, this is the first release of its kind. The mood is unreal, we are very happy. Today is the birthday of our friend from the Vaidotas team (Jatulevičius, author’s note), so this victory is a gift to him. “
Valickas scored a total of 17 points (4/7 dvit., 3/6 trit.) In this game and scored 11 utility points.
After the dramatic victory, Rivilė’s coach, Mindaugas Noreika, was delighted that the young people under his leadership can take on more and more responsibilities at crucial moments.
“It is the second time this season that the youngsters close the game with victory. We tried to maintain a high pace and at a high pace we were able to make a lot of mistakes. Some of the mistakes were made on an equal footing, so there was a lot of criticism from players for my part on these issues. I think our plan is coming true. I’m very happy with the first half of the season and the way we played it.
The second half of the season, in my opinion, is a mirror of our growth. In the first half, we had to deal with our heads. When it comes to men’s basketball, young people have many questions. Now they understand much more. Young people naturally gain strength, adapt to the game, read it. Yes, they make mistakes, but they do differently, they understand what they did wrong. Some episodes can be corrected in training and we will try to do it. That is the objective of this team: that the players grow and improve “.
The season leaders ‘coach, Noreika, was also happy with Kiudulis’ performance. The 200 cm tall student from Capital Basketball School (SKM) scored 17 points, bounced 17 balls and scored 30 utility points.
“We have been waiting for Agustín for a long time. He was treated at the beginning of the season for a trauma received in the summer, the treatment of which lasted a long time. Agustín is already playing for the second month, he has a character that suits the basketball player and we see that in the result. I am happy for Augustine, Gytis, Karolis Brusokas, Ben Aleliūnas, Gediminas Alis and everyone else, because they all benefited. I think we had a good fight and we had it ourselves, so this point It’s very important “.
Kretinga head coach Arimantas Mikaločius highlighted the lost fight under the baskets: “It is very difficult to find the words after such a match. We lost not only from the last attack. The main focus was on rebounds. If we had recovered the ball, we would have had the last attack. Evaldas Rastenis got along more or less well, but we don’t get along with rebounding. There are a lot of games left and if we break up after a loss it will definitely be bad. No one is safe from such pitches. Nothing has been lost yet, we are working and moving forward. “
Rokas Šimkevičius, who scored 21 utility points, was the most successful player on the Kretinga team.
Rivile is the first among 16 teams in TOPsport-RKL Division A, and Kretinga is third.
Winning Half Hook: In 0.7 seconds

The SRC-Dzūkija club took the opportunity provided by the TOPsport-RKL regulations to lodge a protest no more than 15 minutes after the match. Examination of the video revealed that the last pitch was made on time, so the protest was not confirmed.
The author of the winning shot, Krivas, scored a total of 15 points, bounced 10 balls and scored 26 utility points (first result in the team).
Rytis Sasnauskas, who scored 34 utility points, was the most successful player in the ranks of SRC-Dzūkija.

After the match, the 224cm tall basketball player interviewed by RKL.lt said: “At first, the opponents played quite well, but we managed to defend under the basket and we won. I made a lot of progress when I got to the Šiauliai system. It helped me improve a lot as a man and as a basketball player. I train mainly with the main Šiauliai team. At first, I would like to establish the LKL and then reach the level of the Euroleague basketball. Of course, everything takes time. “

If the tournament is won by a team that does not play in the major division of Division B, after the end of 2020-2021. For the championship, he will play extra games with the team that lost him and, in case of victory, he will leave a ticket for Division A.
If the TOPsport Cup is won by one of the teams that will play in the final of Division B later, regardless of their result, both will win a ticket to Division A.
