The requirement to wear masks in public places and the restriction of movement between municipalities may be revised in the near future, says Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys.
According to him, easing the mandatory wearing of masks has already been discussed in the expert council convened by Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, and this should be done again in the near future.
“And I think we will adjust this order very soon. And it seems that the trends that are now, the trends and their decrease will allow us to reduce the requirements for the use of masks, leaving more recommendations,” said the minister on Thursday on the television program “Opponents” by Lietuvos Rytas.
“I couldn’t name a date right now, but I think there should be news in a good week,” he added.
Speaking about the restriction of movement between municipalities, A. Dulkys emphasized that this restriction was introduced when Lithuania was in the first place “according to the complexity of the situation” in Europe and the world and was one of the most effective in stopping the spread. . of the virus.
According to the minister, next week the government could consider releasing the inter-municipal movement.
“There will be changes that we are already discussing that everyone knows were discussed in the Government Emergency Commission. The Prime Minister and others had already met with the Association of Municipalities and discussed these issues. And the figures allow it, they show that in the very near future, perhaps even next week at the Government meeting, the movement will be reviewed and some changes will be proposed, ”said A. Dulkys.
According to him, after the government meeting on Wednesday, there should be “a matter of days” in which the changes can be implemented.
Prime Minister I. Šimonytė also said earlier that the liberation of the movement among all municipalities in the ring could be considered next week.
To stop the spread of the coronavirus, a quarantine regime was introduced in Lithuania in early November, when the use of masks was mandatory. In mid-December, the regime tightened and restrictions on movement between municipalities were introduced.
In late January, the restrictions were extended until early March.
Starting this week, hair salons, beauty and massage salons and small non-food shops will be able to work again in Lithuania.
