Rescuing patients dying from COVID-19 by prof. V. Pilvinis on our unity: Lithuania is in nature

According to V.Pilvinis, the average age of patients in the department he heads is long before retirement: patients who have turned 35 are currently being led by death.

“These are people who could be at home and at work right now, helping others and creating a national product. They are hardworking, conscientious people. I couldn’t really tell them apart, ”says the professor.

The doctor points out that the coronavirus not only chooses the victims by year, it turns out that the comorbidities are not important to him.

We do not seek death. We seek, on the contrary, life. And we love him very much.

On December 10, at a special press conference for the death of the youngest patient since COVID-19, the professor pointed out that the young man had no comorbidities, he was exercising. In other words, the opposite of the prevailing public opinion so far that the coronavirus is dangerous only in the elderly.

“And maybe there is a misconception that was expressed at the beginning that it is dangerous for older people. This is not true. Perhaps a serious condition is less common in a young person, but as you can see, 44 years, 50 years, 27 years (old patients passed away). We currently have a 35-year-old patient and this does not necessarily have to be a concomitant pathology. This virus and this disease is dangerous for everyone ”, says a specialist from Kaunas Clinics.

“We want people to live”

Professor V. Pilvinis claims that human deaths are an exciting loss. According to him, people’s comments that doctors get used to it do not correspond to reality.

“We are the same people with our families, our feelings, our daily life. And we really care about the loss of a person, regardless of age. Excite everyone. <...> We really see parents who suffer, families who suffer. <...> It is not so easy for us ”, he assures.

“I would just like to say that rescuers are not people who try to adapt to death. They do everything possible for a person to live. Our orientation is that people survive. We do not seek death. We seek, on the contrary, life. And We love him very much. Perhaps that is why we are sensual people: we want to live. We want people to live, “says the head of the Intensive Care Unit.

Let’s say that the enemy would not be a virus but a military enemy. <..> Would you go to the store to buy more toilet paper?

It is true that the professor is surprised that some people treat their lives as if they were playing games. For example, those who underestimate the risk posed by the virus.

“It just came to our knowledge then. It turns out that people can still bet their lives on roulette. There are people like that. Maybe you just want to show up. However, fear of death exists in every human being. If you asked yourself what was he doing, he really wanted to take a risk instead of showing up, apparently the answers would come from within. Ask yourself if you really want to take a risk or need to do it. What’s the point here? “asks the teacher.

Lithuania is under inspection

According to the doctor, seeing loved ones sick, relatives do not suffer less. Often the teacher says that he receives questions: why me, why us, why my father, mother, daughter, son, why do they die. Reflecting on these appeals, V.Pilvinis reformulates them in another question: and why did this happen to all of Lithuania? And give your answer.

We want to live. We want people to live.

“And my answer would be that it is probably a check. A kind of inspection of nature. What is our state, what are our people, what are the leaders of our state, what do we gather, how do we choose, if we can be a nation, can we be together to help each other, or are we separated, those individuals are incapable of being.

Let’s say that the enemy would not be a virus, some external, but a military enemy. Will we remain individuals? Would you go to the store to buy more toilet paper? Maybe I’ll have to stay home longer, the most important thing here? ”Says the teacher.

“But I really want to assure you that there are young people, nurses, even students in our department. They have seen what the situation is, they are sacrificing their free time, vacations, even the next cycle and working with us. Because they look different. That you need to think not only individually and for your own benefit, but also about another sick friend, acquaintance, perhaps a stranger who is currently suffering. This is Lithuania under control. And we will see how it is again ”, adds V.Pilvinis, doctor at Kaunas Clinics.

Lithuania is under inspection. And whatever it is, we’ll see.

What’s the point of being home at Christmas?

According to the resuscitator, we have to answer this question ourselves, because without knowing the meaning of such a sacrifice, we will not have inner peace. V.Pilvinis presents his point of view, why it makes sense to accept holidays differently than we are used to:

“Holidays are very significant, but they have content. If your celebration is a Christmas tree race that is more beautiful and you definitely need to see it, then it is probably not a celebration. If you need to see fire shooting into the air, is there really a celebration here? What is your celebration? If there is space in your heart to understand what is Christmas Eve, Advent, Christmas, what is the content, in my opinion, it will not depend on whether people will throw another fire into the sky or another, or a Christmas tree in a city a little more beautiful than another. This is so much vanity.

The party is in you, in your hearts, in your families. Being together. And celebration is realizing that you are someone who can help another. If you feel the pleasure of sacrificing yourself, sharing, you will be happy people. I wish you happy people and live life. And not worry about death, but take care of life and other people ”, says Professor V. Pilvinis of Kaunas Clinics.
