On Sunday, the NVSC had reported 415 new COVID-19 cases, but clarified the information Sunday night, announcing a nearly a third increase in the number of new cases to 603. Five deaths were also reported.
This is the highest number of cases detected per day since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the representative of A.Veryga, with the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Lithuania, the lack of human resources is increasingly felt not only in the National Center for Public Health, but also in the Ministry of Health, people are tired and unable to do her job.
“The current situation is an example of a shortage of manpower. (…) We really ask for your patience and understanding,” added L. Bušinskaitė.
According to her, the NVSC is expected to ease the situation at least to some extent with dozens of soldiers who have come to the rescue since the weekend.
“They are already trained, we hope they can adequately carry out at least the initial case studies, interview people, because then part of the workload would take off. More volunteers are being assisted with the help of the NVSC, for example the organization “Strong Together” will also help coordinate the details. Of course, we will seek further help not only from NVSC, but also from SAM, ”said the Minister’s representative.
