The Ministry is collecting information on the potential impact of the species proposed for inclusion in the EU invasive species list on the country’s biodiversity, economy (especially of species kept, raised, traded) or human health, and invites all interested groups: residents, companies, institutions, organizations until October 11. provide the information available by email email [email protected].
After collecting these data, Lithuania’s position will be prepared at the end of the year and voted on in the Invasive Species Committee organized by the EC. The EU invasive species list was first established in 2016. It includes alien species that, based on scientific evidence, are widespread or likely to spread throughout the EU and are likely to have significant adverse effects on biodiversity , ecosystem services and human health or the economy.
