Only the driver version is known
At the moment, only the version of the 43-year-old man driving the Range Rover is known to the officers of the Kaunas County Police Chief Commissioner conducting the investigation.
The driver said the teenager suddenly dislocated the driveway, was still trying to avoid a hit, pulled to the left but it was too late. The car threw the girl to the sidewalk and she died instantly from the injuries she sustained.
While the pretrial investigation is ongoing, officials do not comment on further details of the incident.
Provided in the rules
The rules of the road dictate how pedestrians must walk on rural roads. Officials from the highway police board noted that the accident occurred while the road surface was wet.
It was known that the minor was walking in the direction of the movement of the car. Road traffic regulations stipulate that pedestrians must walk on the sidewalks or sidewalks on the right side and, when they do not exist, on the sidewalk.
If there is no sidewalk, path, or curb, or it is not possible to walk on them, it is allowed to walk a line at the edge of the road. Pedestrians walking along the edge of the road must move in front of the direction of travel of the vehicles.
The wall of silence opened
“Market Square” on Wednesday visited residents of Gineitai, Šeteniai, Šventybrastis villages and surrounding farms. Little could they say, because no one saw the event itself, and where and what the minor visited did not know.
Market Square managed to take a photo of the incident, but recorded the action already after the accident, when three police crews had already arrived at the scene.
It is true that the townspeople said that they had heard that the girl was visiting someone, that she had stopped and passed cars, but could not say or testify anything more specific.
Lie down to eternal rest
One sunny sixteen-year-old Wednesday afternoon lay in the Daškoniai village cemetery for eternal rest. Relatives and many of her friends attended the girl’s funeral. The girl’s friends who spoke responded only with kind words about her.
“It just came to our knowledge then. Always cheerful and in a good mood. He loved his family, mother and brother very much, and valued his friends very much. It’s a shame that he left this world so young,” sighed one of the friends of the girl.
