Probably the most prominent Lithuanian basketball journalist of recent times, Donatas Urbonas, joins the BasketNews team. His arrival also marks the beginning of a new international BasketNews project.

The BasketNews.lt website, well known and appreciated by Lithuanian basketball fans since 2005, has decided to turn to international waters. A new international project creating basketball news, webcasts and videos in English will bring together the most talented Lithuanian and European basketball journalists.

Urbonas, who has been distinguished in Lithuania for his exceptional work in print and audiovisual journalism, will be one of the brightest faces of the new project.

“I have been competing with the men of BasketNews in the media for over a decade, but have always respected them as strong opponents for their professionalism, quality work and exciting new ideas,” said Urbon. – In recent years, BasketNews has grown significantly, motivated by its innovations and has become a home for the Lithuanian basketball community. In addition to my personal ambitions, the work that BasketNews has done and its hunger to keep going have been key factors in joining a project for the future. I believe that with such a strong team, we can achieve our goals ”.

Urbonas will also work on the Lithuanian version of the website and will continue with the website of its author, one of whose main partners will be TV3 Sport Rytis commentator Vyšniauskas.

In the English version of the website, your guests will be the most prominent guests from the world of European basketball, from coaches and basketball players to journalists.

“A step into the international market is a challenge that has been maturing in our minds for some time,” said Jonas Miklovas, editor of BasketNews.lt. – Naturally, the implementation of such a project requires the greatest talent.

Donatas is one of the most prominent journalists not only in Lithuania, but also in Europe, whose knowledge, connections and skills are valued and respected in the world of basketball. We believe that the project led by an ambitious team will help make basketball more interesting in Europe ”.

Urbonas, 29, graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in journalism and previously worked at the websites krepsinis.net, lrytas.lt and 15min.lt.

More on the new BasketNews project will be released to the public on June 28.
