He also emphasized that one of the top priorities is to open the data to the media. The head of the Registry Center assured that the company is willing to participate in discussions on this issue at the Seimas and seek solutions.
It was also agreed during the meeting that copies of the data could be kept in a digital embassy in the allied states. Estonia has established such an embassy in Luxembourg and promised to share its experience with Lithuania.
The data opens
According to the Registry Center, the data of two registries of national relevance -Properties and Addresses- are already open for free use, and this time the data of the third Registry of Legal Persons are opened: list of companies registered with their names, address company, information on management bodies, authorized capital and other relevant data.
Several different data sets from the Registry of Legal Entities are provided to the public free of charge, for example, the legal entities registered in the Register, providing their codes, names, registered address, date of registration, legal form and legal status. A similar set has been opened for companies or organizations that have already been removed from the Registry of Legal Persons.
To date, more than 250 thousand people have registered in the Registry of Legal Persons. legal persons, their number increases by more than 10 thousand every year. recently registered companies, small associations, public bodies, associations or other legal entities. The list of legal persons terminated includes more than 200 thousand. legal entities that no longer exist today.

A separate data set contains data on the governing bodies (managers, boards or councils) held by legal entities. To date, for example, around 28 thousand, or one in ten legal entities, have not submitted any information about their manager to the Registry of Legal Persons.
Data on the authorized capital of legal persons (limited companies and public limited companies) are also opened. It is interesting that although the euro was introduced in Lithuania six years ago, more than 135 thousand. One third (45 thousand) of the legal entities with authorized capital have not yet been converted from litas to euros.
The open data of the Registry of Legal Entities may also be relevant to the non-governmental sector. Information is included on legal persons with or without beneficiary status (generally public bodies, associations or charitable and supportive foundations), as well as on the possibility of registering the status of a non-governmental organization (NGO label) that appeared on the last year. separated into separate sets.
In order to strengthen the business community and increase public trust in companies, the financial statement data submitted by late legal entities was opened. The data of the documents submitted to the Registry of Legal Persons (regulations, statutes, founding documents or other documents) are also provided.
Each of the data sets in the Registry of Legal Entities is expected to be periodically updated to provide the public with the most relevant information on a regular basis.
Future plans – Opening of the population register
In order to contribute to the progress of the state and society and promote the development of new high-tech products and services, the development of the knowledge economy, the Registry Center opened the first open data sets to the public in mid-2019 Lithuanian real estate objects.
In the middle of last year, these data sets were supplemented with data from the Address Registry – more than 2 million. unique addresses.
After the opening of the Registry of Legal Persons, in the next stage it is planned to open to the public the depersonalized data of another important registry, that is, the Population Registry, for next year. In later stages, it is intended to open data from other registries, such as mortgage or foreclosure records, as well as information systems.
At the end of this phase, the key data of the key records will be made public.
All data opened by the Registry Center can be found on the company’s website at www.registrucentras.lt/atviri_duomenys and downloaded for use in convenient open data formats.
