On Nemunas Island in Kaunas, near the Žalgiris Arena, for the watersports center under construction, contractors installed record-size Lithuanian-made girders at the site.
According to the Vilnius construction contractor, the construction company Conresta, the composite metal beams of record dimensions (44.29 m long and 80.9 t) will support the roof structure over the great basin. In total, the site is equipped with six 12-part beams.
The production of beams was carried out continuously, at night and on weekends, in two cities: Alytus and Panevėžys. Special transportation was used with permits for transportation to the site. The beams were manufactured by the Montuotojas company.
According to Lukas Laukaitis, director of Conresta, the construction is progressing as planned.

The center will feature a 50m long pool and 10 tiered lanes with 500 seats for spectators. It will be able to host international rankings and national championships. The second, smaller pool will be used for the children’s swimming lessons. The pool with all the infrastructure will meet the requirements of the FINA International Swimming Federation.
There will also be a 300-seat spa area with three different temperature-controlled sauna complexes, children’s and adult entertainment pools, whirlpool sauna complexes, relaxation rooms and a cafeteria. The water sports center also has a 200-seat sports club.
Construction of the center is scheduled to be completed in 2022. in the summer.
