The physiotherapist did a great job so that I could run, but I didn’t know what the situation would be until 20 kilometers, ”admitted R. Kančys.
Before this start, Kaunas had the second result in the history of Lithuania in marathon and half marathon matches. Having attacked the country’s marathon record several times, R. Kančys became for the first time the fastest Lithuanian runner in the history of the half marathon. “Together we raced on different sections of the track, over and over. We joked that maybe they would leave us alone. We are at a similar level and we can really compete, down to the last kilometer and competing,” said R. Kančys.

“The plan was similar, but I didn’t know what to expect. At first I was preparing for the London Marathon and then the plan changed and I started preparing for the half marathon. Apparently, if I can’t say the wind was felt, then there wasn’t. There were hills, a lot of slopes, but the track is apt to make records, I think a lot of them have become them.
The athlete admits that there was not much motivation to prepare for the competition, when it is not clear if it will take place at all.
“This season the motivation was very ‘nothing’. I waited last week for the world championship to happen or not, I really did not expect it. However, a successful half marathon shows that there is a way, it is really possible to improve the record as well. in a marathon, ”said M. Bytautienė.
