“We may not mention the word ‘record’ every day, because those numbers will definitely grow. That number from yesterday is a record compared to last day, but I think those numbers will increase because, looking at people’s behavior, the virus is actually spreading very fast.
Yesterday 950 cases were registered. They are registered throughout Lithuania, in the ten counties. The virus is spreading everywhere, “said D. Razmuvienė.
According to the epidemiologist, the biggest concern is health facilities.
“If it is a nursing home, the patients most at risk lie there. For a long time there they are in a closed room, their – and age, chronic diseases, there the spread of the virus is very fast. The incidence is also recorded. of the staff working in personal health care establishments. Today, about 700 doctors are sick, “said D. Razmuvienė.
The epidemiologist has warned that the greatest threat is that this link is cut out of the provision of services in the health network.
The virus spreads via the work-home route
The specialist provided several examples from Vilnius County, where cases of illness were recorded.
“It is a judo club, tennis championship, dance studio, basketball training, educational institutions. It is understandable that young people visit it. As the statistics show, the majority of patients are in the age group under 65. They are socially active, (…) that route of spread of the virus and it is a “work at home”, – said D. Razmuvienė.
The specialist associates the spread of the virus with irresponsible behavior when non-binding recommendations were ignored.
“This morbidity is registered in the group up to 65 years of age, because they are the most active people (according to their social life)”, said D. Razmuvienė.
Deaths, according to the epidemiologist, are recorded more in older age groups.
“Yesterday there were six deaths. One person is between 50 and 60 years old, two between 70 and 79 years old, two between 80 and 89 years old and one between 90 and 99 years old,” said D. Razmuvienė.
The specialist warned that younger people who have an active social life without thinking about what is in their environment pose a risk to those most affected by the virus.
An NVSC spokeswoman said they needed more job help. It also welcomed the initiative of President Gitan Nausėda to convene an expert working group.
“It will be very useful, especially during the transition period,” said D. Razmuvienė, who said that a similar group had been operating under the government before.
Before the long late weekend: a warning to residents
As the weekend approached, the epidemiologist asked residents to assess their risks, both personal and family, when faced with the need to go to one or another cemetery that may not even be in the same city.
“Those traffic light regions should be taken into account. (…) If people don’t look at those traffic light colors, let them wear protective gear: masks, let them keep their distance. They shouldn’t navigate in the cemetery. to spend the afternoon of memories.
This can also be done when there is a calmer situation. If people don’t visit the dead this year, they will be able to visit later. If that long weekend is very active, people will go to visit the graves, (…) the number of patients may increase ”, warned D. Razmuvienė.
