“It just came to our knowledge then. (…) Until now, you know, I don’t know how to persuade the population,” he told BNS.

According to E. Jonyla, just over 200 samples were taken at the mobile point last day.

“However, this number also includes the people studied in the social care homes in Blinstrubiškės. Yesterday, the specialists went to the place, examined them,” explained the director of the municipal administration of the Raseiniai district.

According to data from the National Center for Public Health, last day 49 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the Raseiniai district, 34 of them in the Blinstrubiškės welfare home.

“31 rooms and 3 employees were infected. Subjects were assessed prophylactically according to NVSC guidelines. They continue to be tested regularly. The initial hypothesis is that the infection has spread due to asymptomatic cases among employees, ”said NVSC representative Austina Vžesniauskaitė on BNS on Friday.

According to her, a total of about 200 people live in these residences. So far, coronavirus has been identified in 11 workers and 40 rooms. Four secondary cases were also confirmed.

According to E. Jonyla, there are almost no serious patients in the nursing home, most of the patients are asymptomatic.

He also stated that the municipality plans to request the LSMU Kaunas Clinics to designate and send personnel who can work in this care institution.

“We will send such a request to provide additional doctors or residents to help in Blinstrubiškės, (…) because the workload is not that small,” said E. Jonyla.

According to him, it is not yet planned to request a local quarantine from the government, as the situation in the district is under control.

According to data from the Registry Center, the number of COVID-19 patients in the Raseiniai district currently stands at 353.

At present, education in the Raseiniai district is carried out remotely, the mandatory use of face masks in open and closed spaces has been introduced, planned events have been canceled, visits to cultural institutions have been restricted and the physical service to visitors in municipal institutions.

Meanwhile, it is recommended that private companies operate remotely.
