The politician assumed that his withdrawal from the Seimas would strengthen the LVŽS. He called the behavior of the new majority deplorable.
“I know that after such a decision, my political opponents will start to rejoice, maybe even celebrate, but they will soon realize that that step of mine will only strengthen the Lithuanian Union of Peasants and Greens and make our Seimas faction even more active, because it is our common and common protest to fight against the desire of the new government to redistribute the Nation into a “schooner” and an “elite”.

The Seimas rejected Aušrinė Norkienė’s candidacy proposed by the “peasants” by approving the deputies of parliament this week. All other vice presidents appointed by other ruling and opposition parties were approved.
Furthermore, on Thursday, the LVŽS announced that it was resigning from any position in the Seimas government structures. In this way, the party responded to the intentions of the rulers to appoint a representative of the Joint Group of Seimas members as head of the Seimas Audit Committee, modifying the Statute of Seimas so that the committee would be headed by a minority representative in place of local opposition.
The “peasants” who were left without their representative in the leadership of the Seimas promise to appear before the Constitutional Court because a large political group is in a worse position than a small group.
R.Karbauskis hoped that after his departure from the Seimas, the ruling majority would “resign and return to the faction the opportunities to work fully in the Seimas”, that is, appoint the previously proposed A.Norkienė as Vice Presidents of the Seimas, negotiate positions of leadership on committees.
