“I said yesterday that there will be around 30 somewhere, but after checking, there are more of them, around 30 active, there are still around 20 not very active,” R. Lienė told LRT radio on Tuesday.

According to her, the outbreak is considered inactive when no new cases of coronavirus are detected in 28 days.

“There are about 30 cakes, but their size is very different. Many of them are familiar – two, three, four cases – again, they are not very important to society. The most important thing for us are the outbreaks in health institutions, places of entertainment and restaurants, which are spreading to a large number of people, ”said the NVSC representative.

R. Lingienė also said that new cases were registered at Šiauliai Republican Hospital and Ambulance Station, but said that he did not know whether these cases should be treated as a new approach.

“It is difficult to say if these cases are related, because an outbreak is when two or more related cases are registered. According to my initial data, there are a couple of cases, but if they are related, epidemiologists will know about it in the near future, ”said the public health specialist.

Remigijus Mažeika, director of the Šiauliai Republican Hospital, told LRT radio that one of the cases was recorded in the hospital’s Neurology Department.

“We have a case in the Department of Neurology. When the patient was admitted, a negative PCR test was performed, but after repeating the test a few days later, the patient’s PCR test was positive, which is how insidious this disease is, ”said the hospital manager.

According to R.Mažeika and R.Lingienė, currently the most concerning are asymptomatic cases, which create opportunities for virus outbreaks to spread undetected.

According to data on Monday, a total of 3,814 cases of the COVID-19 disease were confirmed in Lithuania, 1,511 people were still ill and 2,199 had recovered. 83 people are treated in hospitals, five of them in resuscitation.

A total of 87 people died from the coronavirus and 17 people died from other causes.
