According to R. Lingienė, 1,048 sick people were registered on April 20 during the peak period.

“It’s more today, actually,” he said.

The specialist stressed that people suffer from very mild forms, the vast majority are treated at home and not in hospitals.

According to her, 34 patients are currently being treated for coronavirus, up from 130 on April 20.

Four patients were treated in the resuscitation and intensive care units, 18 on April 20, 2 people with artificial lung ventilation and 11 in April, 15 people treated with oxygen masks, 35 on April 20.

“The numbers speak for themselves, the situation is in no way uncontrollable or threatening,” he emphasized.

R.Lingienė encouraged people to take advantage of the innovation – completing a questionnaire on the NVSC website about patient contact.

The results of the survey are Friday.

The minister announced this Thursday that the preliminary results of the epidemiological study will be presented on Friday.

“Then we will be able to discuss in more detail how the situation developed during the first wave, how many displaced people we have,” said Aurelijus Veryga.

Trouble in the Baltic bubble

The question has arisen in recent weeks about the Baltic travel bubble. Although Lithuania’s morbidity rate has decreased this week, it is now below the red: 16 cases per 100,000. population, but the situation with Estonia is much worse. Last week, the Latvians only agreed to make concessions to Lithuania and Estonia at the last minute.

“We will definitely do our best to save the bubble. Proposals have already been made to both Latvians and Estonians to drop the 16-case indicator and move to 25. Then the bubble will be saved, especially since Europe, not just the Baltic countries, are discussing similar indicators, ”said A. Veryga.

If the bubble were to burst anyway, Lithuania, according to the minister, would try to find exceptions so that Lithuanians could travel more freely in the Baltic countries, and Latvians and Estonians had more opportunities in Lithuania. Other countries would make their own decisions.

“But we hope to be able to agree on that figure of 25 cases, and then the problem will be solved,” the minister expected. However, based on Thursday’s data, the elevated indicator may not even help – in Estonia it is currently as high as 25.9. 15.6 in Lithuania and 4.3 in Latvia.

Not everyone will be able to shorten self-isolation

The minister reiterated on Thursday that starting next week, September 15, some people will be allowed to shorten self-isolation from 14 to 10 days.

“If it is so simple, national, this procedure would be mainly relevant for people who come to Lithuania and want to shorten the time of self-isolation. But with one of the conditions: that the COVID-19 test is carried out before the eighth day and is negative ”, explained on Thursday the Minister of Health A.Veryga.

“But a shorter isolation would not apply to people who have had high-risk contact with an infected person and who need to be isolated due to a possible infection,” warned A. Veryga. They have a 14-day isolation period.

It is unclear when the EC travel guidelines will be available.

The countries of the European Union are currently negotiating the liberalization of travel rules and the European Commission is preparing recommendations in this regard. When Veryga could wait for them, she couldn’t say.

The threshold is being negotiated for the indicator to be included in the affected lists. “There are really very different proposals, and 25 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants), and 50 and 100. It depends a lot on whether you have to be isolated when coming from one country or another,” explained the minister. Now there are 16 cases per 100,000 in Lithuania. population threshold.

A.Veryga said that the desire to assess the islands separately is understandable, but a bit tricky. “There is a doubt as far as possible to collect such data that could detail the district or the region,” explained the minister.

“Getting vaccinated is vital”

According to the Minister of Health A.Veryga, he contacted the State Defense Council regarding the purchase of vaccines, because the control of the virus affects all areas of life.

According to the Minister, this goes beyond the competence of the SAM, the Government, so this issue must be raised to the highest level.

“It is vital that the country receive the vaccines. There are objective risks that are difficult to manage, it is necessary to make decisions about products that have not been tested, ”she said.

Two new fireplaces per day

Last day 36 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lithuania, reported the Ministry of Health (SAM). To date, the disease has been confirmed in 3,199 people, 1,070 of whom are still ill, and by 2030 they have recovered. There are currently 7,074 people in isolation.

Of the 36 new cases of coronavirus, 17 have been confirmed in outbreaks, more than a third of which are related to the sewing company Interscalit in Šiauliai, the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) reported on Thursday.

Six new cases of COVID-19 infection and five family members have been confirmed in the outbreak associated with this company. In total, according to the NVSC, there are currently 14 workers and seven people in contact.

Last day two new chimneys were searched. One of them is at the Raseiniai Police Station, where two officers were diagnosed with the disease. The second new chimney is at Limedika Pharmaceutical Company operating in Kaunas County.
