Professor Kasiulevičius’ predictions are grim: when will we reach 200 cases a day?

“It just came to our notice then. This is the winter season, not spring. We certainly won’t hit such milestones this winter.

Probably what we can achieve is to stabilize the number of diseases. In order not to increase them, they would begin to decrease later; in 3-4 weeks we should achieve a decrease in the number of new cases.

If we look at it from another perspective, it is the provision of medical care to the maximum for all patients, not only those who have Covid-19, but also those who have vascular, cardiovascular and other diseases, “said the professor at a press conference in government.

One in ten patients hospitalized for Covid-19 dies

Professor V. Kasiulevičius stated that the situation is really very complicated.

“Every day 30 Lithuanian citizens die from an infection, a contagious disease that claims many lives.

One in ten hospitalized patients with Covid-19 dies. Such a contagious disease has been so widespread in Lithuania for a long time. We probably do not remember any case in our lives where we had a spread of an infectious disease that causes so many deaths

What’s more, other people who don’t have Covid-19 are dying. Because they cannot reach health centers, beds are lacking.

We need to make decisive decisions. “Limit contacts as much as possible so that at least 2 weeks after we reach stabilization, the effective rate of R remains below unity, that is, when 100 people are infected with less than 100 people,” said the professor.
