According to Laimutis Paškevičius, president of the Lithuanian Association of Private Healthcare Institutions (LPSPĮA), according to tv3.lt, from this week, in accordance with the agreement with the Vilnius city municipality, people over 80 years of age will be vaccinated In private. health institutions. elders of the century. L. Paškevičius is in a hurry to warn that older people will not have to pay for vaccines, and a private clinic is starting vaccination as part of the state vaccination plan.
Vaccination in private health facilities is scheduled to start on Wednesday afternoon, organizational work is currently being coordinated and patient lists are being prepared. Vaccination at the InMedica Clinic will take place at A. Vivulskio str. 7, in the old Snoras Bank building. A total of about 1,000 people are expected to be vaccinated.
“In the first stage, they get around 1000 doses tomorrow the next day. You will receive about 500 doses of the cold vaccine from Pfizer and you will also receive 50 vials of AstraZeneca in 10 units, which is approximately 500 doses, ”comments L. Paškevičius.
Until now, private institutions will only vaccinate their patients in Vilnius, other municipalities have not applied for the LPSPĮA. L. Paškevičius speculates that this is due to the fact that many people live in Vilnius, so help from private institutions was only needed here until now.
Warn patients not to make mistakes
InMedica has been designated as the main coordinating and organizing institution for this process in Vilnius. According to L. Paškevičius, the largest number of patients is registered in this institution. The facility will receive vaccines from the Emergency Management Center and distribute doses to other private facilities.
Larger clinics will vaccinate their patients themselves, while patients in smaller facilities will be referred to larger ones. The packages contain multiple doses of the vaccine, so those facilities that have a small number of older adults waiting to be vaccinated will direct them to higher vaccines.
L. Paškevičius warns patients who have been invited to vaccinate not to make mistakes. If the institution where you are registered will call you to get vaccinated, listen carefully to where you should go for vaccination.

Then, when the date and time of the vaccination approaches, you will receive a call or SMS messages or both a call and SMS messages from InMedica clinics where it will be clear when and where to arrive. It is important to pay attention that people would not go to their clinics automatically, but would go to the address to which they are invited ”, says the president of LPSPIA.
There will be a strict schedule for vaccinations, so individuals are invited to arrive a few minutes early so that the procedure schedule is not interrupted.
Institutions are also ready to vaccinate for money
With the involvement of private health facilities in the Covid-19 vaccination process, it is clear that they are capable of vaccinating part of the population. Earlier, representatives of tv3.lt’s private health institutions said that they were receiving many patients who requested vaccines for money.
Similar requests are currently being received, but so far the vaccination process is centralized and there are no vaccines on the market yet. Although it will be possible to provide the Covid-19 vaccine to private health centers, some centers have raised a number of questions.
“The European Commission has decided, on the basis of its own agreed criteria, that the most important thing is that all patients in Europe, in principle, we are already talking about the whole world, should be guaranteed free vaccines. Actually, they are not he envisaged such a trade route. It was not prohibited, but it was not mentioned anywhere in the cross-border agreements, “says L. Paškevičius.
Then residents of the younger age groups and companies that are particularly vulnerable to employee attrition began asking whether private healthcare facilities could not bring the vaccine themselves and vaccinate people for money.
Private clinics have contacted vaccine distributors and manufacturers, but “so far, they haven’t received very specific responses. Public order remains a priority everywhere. As long as demand exceeds supply, there will probably be no commercial roads very soon.
However, there are more and more applicants for vaccines that may be approved by the European Medicines Agency in the next month. In principle, if there is more supply, there may be an opportunity to sell more vaccines and there will be a larger warehouse, carriers will be able to buy them and bring them to Lithuania. And then it will be possible to get vaccinated both in public and private institutions ”.
Prices are not yet known
When asked how much it could cost to get vaccinated against Covid-19 privately, L. Paškevičius says it’s too early to talk about prices yet. However, when the possibility of private vaccination becomes available, private clinics will cost much more to buy vaccines than the state.
“If states order tens of millions or hundreds of millions of doses from vaccine manufacturers, it is clear that the price may be tens or less than one way brought by one institution or another. It is too early to speak now.
We have asked the Ministry of Health (SAM) and the Government if such a path would be acceptable in principle. We argue that this is a completely added value for the public interest due to the fact that the more people are vaccinated, either at the expense of the state or of the people themselves, the faster the pandemic will be liquidated ”, says L. Paškevičius.
The LPSPIA says SAM has assured it that there should be no barriers to commercial vaccination in the future.
