This is announced in a press release.

The local coronavirus outbreak recorded in Kaunas last week at one of the city-based transport companies became the starting point for stronger preventive action. The resulting epidemiological situation has been successfully managed, but it has been decided to take additional measures to prevent the recurrence of similar cases and to prevent the city from spreading the disease.

It was decided to pay special attention to the Dainava district, where the company is located, which became the epicenter of the epidemiological situation last week. Employees of commercial and service companies operating here and local residents are encouraged to actively participate in the study.

Registration, as usual, is done by calling the Korona Hotline on the short telephone number 1808. Kaunas residents who called this week have to say the keyword “Kaunas Resident for Preventive Examination”.

“The epidemiological situation has determined that the city of Kaunas has become a high-risk municipality. While this may sound intimidating to some, we want to assure residents that there is nothing to fear. The city of Kaunas has received significantly higher fees for coronavirus research. We are ready to take advantage of this opportunity. The most important thing is for Kaunas residents to pay attention to this, “- Paulius Keras, head of the Kaunas City Municipality Emergency Operations Center, explained the current situation.

The mobile checkpoint in Kaunas is located in the camping area of the city (Jonavos str. 51A). You can operate up to three separate lines at once. The scope of its activities is constantly coordinated according to the number of records. The Kaunas polyclinic doctors who work here can take around 600 samples a day.

“The situation with the citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan has shown once again that the state of emergency in the country continues and that we must not yet relax.” We need to remain vigilant and care for our people responsibly so that the city remains safe and people feel comfortable. During the quarantine, the residents of Kaunas were truly aware and united, so they must remain so. This preventive study should provide a lot of useful information for public health specialists, therefore I invite you to contribute and become your participants, “said Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis.

The number of polls this week is forecast to rise to 3,000. limit. By order of the Minister of Health, 0.5 to 1 percent of Kaunas city residents are planned to be investigated.
