“It is safe to say that the peak of the second herd is over, the situation is improving, but if we look at how many people are sick at the moment, the situation is not what it was in September or August, (…) the restrictions should be analyzed very carefully. It’s very easy to do it, because we really don’t want to see the situation deteriorate, and we have seen many such examples, “said S. Krėpšta in an interview with Radio Lithuania on Thursday.

“We already saw the first signs a few weeks ago that the biggest peak of the pandemic, when we shed more infections, was at the turn of the year, and every week in January we have a decrease in cases. We basically have four weeks in which the number of cases is decreasing compared to last week, and this week does not seem to change those good trends yet ”, commented the advisor on the situation.

This Wednesday it was announced that 1232 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the country last day, the National Center for Public Health reported that the infectious disease is spreading in residences, businesses and kindergartens.

In Lithuania, since the beginning of the pandemic, COVID-19 has caused 168,708 people. According to data released Wednesday, 2,494 people died from coronavirus in the country.
