“Sometimes coalitions agree on posts the first night. But it’s worth noting that this ruling majority first discussed the values, which is really important and can lead to the sustainability of the coalition. Only the second step is taken in case of ministries and the third step in the case of specific surnames. Hopefully, it is just an assumption, that there may be smaller waves when values are agreed than when specific surnames are agreed in the first place, “said Povilas Mačiulis, Senior Advisor to the President, to Knowledge Radio.
According to him, the president was also impressed by the candidate for Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė. According to P. Mačiulis, it is obvious that the talks about the scheduled disagreements of G. Nausėda and I. Šimonytė have already collapsed.
“An attempt was made to speculate or launch such rumors that President Gitanas Nausėda could not work with Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyte due to supposedly unclear versions. All those rumors have disappeared, relations are excellent, most opinions really coincide”, said P. Mačiulis, emphasizing that a consensus was reached on how to react to the current situation in the state.
“When we come to the legislation, to the decisions of the Government”, of course, sometimes the devil is in the details and all kinds of moods can arise. But the first impression is really very good, “said the adviser to the head of the country.
The names of the ministers have not yet been agreed
Mačiulis says that the future ruling majority, which signed a coalition agreement on Monday, has yet to reach an agreement on possible specific candidates for the minister’s post with the country’s leader, Gitanas Nausėda.
“In the next negotiations of the ruling coalition, the values were first agreed. (…) Now is the stage where the parties will identify the priority areas in which they want to delegate representatives. To my knowledge, the ruling majority has not yet completed negotiations at this stage, so it is too early to move on to the next stage and talk about specific personalities, “said P. Mačiulis on Tuesday on the” Pozicija “news station.
Speaking of the information that appeared in the public sphere, that Rokas Masiulis, who has already headed more than one ministry, could be appointed Minister of Health, P. Mačiulis stated that he did not want to comment on the rumors.
“R. Masiulis would probably be fit for the Ministry of Health as well, but I’ll get back to the point I made: neither R. Masiulis nor other specific personnel are currently coordinated. I think that most of the names mentioned at the level of rumors are more the consequence of media curiosity than of a real consensus ”, emphasized P. Mačiulis.
According to him, the specific candidates for ministerial positions will be discussed a little later, but, as pointed out by Fr. Mačiulis, it is very important to assemble a team of ministers.
“It just came to our notice then. But as soon as the future ruling majority does not agree, take action and start appointing ministers, the government headed by Saul Skvernelis will remain in office in mid-December. In any case, the process that is being carried out is a normal legal procedure that will take some time, ”said G. Nausėda’s senior adviser.
Asked about the information published by the lrytas.lt portal – the possible candidacy of the conservative Laurynas Kaščiūnas to the ministers of National Defense, P. Mačiulis said that the possibilities of this politician to occupy the position of minister were not discussed either.
“I cannot say how much I know, but I dare to say that this candidacy is not coordinated with the president. Both L. Kasčiūnas and other possible candidates will be considered and evaluated. All the more so since it is not just an evaluation of the perception and political assessment of the president, but also of an evaluation of the institutions: if this person has something wrong in his past. I am not talking specifically about L. Kasčiūnas, but this is how each candidacy will be evaluated “, added P. Mačiulis .
ELTA recalls that on Monday the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party signed a new coalition agreement. However, Prime Minister candidate Ingrida Šimonytė did not reveal any specific last names, which she would like to see on her government team.
On Monday night, LRT television announced that, according to unofficial data, R. Masiulis could be nominated as Minister of Health. The lrytas.lt portal, in turn, also announced the possible candidacy of L. Kasčiūnas for the post of Minister of National Defense.
The Seimas of the new mandate will meet for the first plenary session on Friday. During it, the Board of Directors of the Seimas and the President of the Seimas will be elected. The Liberal Movement has publicly expressed its desire to delegate to the Speaker of the Seimas.
