“When making such decisions, asking for accountability, you need to find out who owns the specific data, the specific segments of the data, where those issues have occurred, why not list them, and of course some more detailed research, subsequent analysis and decisions “. – S. Krėpšta told LRT radio on Thursday.

He commented on information released earlier this week by the Health Department on the digitization of the National Center for Public Health that found 804 unaccounted deaths related to coronavirus: 324 from coronavirus and 480 deaths from other causes.

“The President trusts the activities of the Government and the Ministry and hopes that these institutions, after carrying out additional analyzes, will clarify the problems,” said the President’s Counselor.

According to S. Krėpšta, President Gitanas Nausėda does not plan to meet with the head of the NVSC: “we do not have such a plan in the next few days.”

He stressed that the question of reliable data was particularly important, as only accurate data could lead to the correct pandemic management decisions.

Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys instructed Robertas Petraitis, director of the NVSC, to provide a detailed written assessment of the situation after the information on the unaccounted for deaths was clarified.

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė stated that the NVSC leadership should be responsible for the situation.

According to the NVSC, the discrepancy may be due to the heavy workload of not transmitting or delaying the death information to the treatment center, which was not the fault of the NVSC.

According to the latest official data, 1,422 deaths from coronavirus were recorded in Lithuania, a total of 138 thousand have been confirmed since the start of the pandemic. 219 cases of COVID-19, 65 thousand are still sick. 784, recovered – 66 thousand. 485 infected.
