Laura Matjošaitytė, president of the Central Election Commission (CEC), told BNS that on Monday the voting was quite fluid in advance.

“We have not received any complaints from voters that there were queues anywhere or that no one was allowed to vote or that there were violations. Either such information did not reach us, or there really is no complaint,” he said.

Voters can express their wishes at any early voting location, regardless of where they are registered.

Voting begins at 7 pm and lasts up to 20 hours.

On Tuesday morning, in Lukiškės Square there were queues for those wishing to vote. Around 7 a.m., several dozen people lined up.

There were no queues on Tuesday morning in the Vilnius City Municipality, where it is also possible to cast a vote.

Voters are asked to go to the polls with protective gear covering their nose and mouth, to have their own writing instrument, not forgetting their identity document. For those without a mask or pen, it will be given on the spot.

During these elections, the voting has been extended in advance from Monday to Thursday inclusive. It used to take a couple of days.

In addition, more early voting places have been installed, but in some municipalities it is not possible to vote in the municipal building itself, as it used to be.

Of the three largest cities, only in Vilnius early voting also takes place in the municipal building, at that time in Kaunas and Klaipėda voters are invited to vote elsewhere.

In Vilnius, residents can vote in advance without a municipal building on Konstitucijos Avenue at the Vilnius University Health and Sports Center in Saulėtekis, A. Sakharov Square near the Press Palace in Viršuliškės, the District Municipal Building from Vilnius on Rinktinės Street and Lukiškių Square.

On Tuesday, the CEC will consider opening another electoral college in the capital.

“We discussed this option with the Vilnius city municipality as a mobile polling place. Where previously there was a mobile coronavirus test point on Savanori Sa Avenue to install a special polling place where it would be possible to come and vote in the vehicle” , L. Matjošaitytė told BNS.

According to her, a member of the Election Commission would identify the incoming voter, issue him the voting documents, and he would fill out the ballot in the vehicle, put it in an envelope, seal it, and deliver it to the commissioner.

If approved, said article would operate on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The president of the CEC said that the mobile point could be voted by everyone, it is not for people in self-isolation.
